Subject: At the risk of being flamed !

The board is now being swamped with pages of Poser 5 news, questions, suggestions, gossip, release news and associated drooling. Sadly without a lottery win, myself and many others will have to satisfy ourselves with earlier versions and wonderful freestuff for quite a while yet. I think the time may be right to set up a new dedicated 'rosity' Poser 5 devotees board. Tommy, "ducking back in corner"

I for one won't flame you. You likely have a good idea. It sometimes takes awhile for new Forums to be created. You might want to go to the Community Ideas forum with this suggestion.

I agree, it's getting old now. Especially without a firm release date. Marque

Aw, we can't flame him? And I had the marshmallows ready!

i am ever so sick of all the p5 threads. and, i found out that i can even afford the upgrade.

L.D., Test the witch out first. Find a deep lake etc and throw her in. if she drowns she's not a witch - if she floats she's a witch. - TJ

If we wealthier types can have a separate forum so we dont have to mix with the funds-challenged, bring it on. Seriously, as someone else said this is the first major upgrade to Poser for nigh on 5 years, you cant blame people in a Poser forum for getting excited, even if it has got a bit much. You don`t have to read the threads after all. "Get your matches here, tinder for sale! Stones, all sizes!" Mark

Ah, the voice of sweet sanity. I can understand the enthusiasm but... I won't be getting P5 right away either, so perhaps it's partly sour grapes but honestly. Many of these threads ask questions that have already been answered or questions that can't (or won't) be answered yet by CL. The hardware specs are out so the rest of the "will it do X," mostly fit into one of the previously mentioned categories. Most of the rest are just giddy fluff - which is fine but it would be nice if it were cordoned off in its own area rather than cluttering up the posts about what is here and now.

Actually if it is bad now just wait until P5 is actually out! The P5 forum may be a very good idea.

Don't flame him - drool him ;o)

And if the Mac/PC hostility gets any worse we may also have to split Poser 5 into seperate platform forums. I'd find that very sad :-(

I made a suggestion in a thread in the community ideas forum regarding havin Poser Version tic-boxes (like Nudity/Violence flags) on all posts in the Community Ideas forum. Click over there, and look it over. if you like it, post your support, if you'd prefer another plan, post that. We'll come up with something that will work, this is an evolving community. Cheers!

never happen. when victoria came out, all people ever wanted was to stuff all the victoria posts in a new forum. when michael came out, all they ever wanted was to stuff him somewhere. (wait, that didn't come out sounding quite right....) come on, you guys know the drill. something new comes out, everybody posts 500 messages about it. we all wish everybody would just shut up about it... and then a few weeks later, it's all just taken in stride with the rest of poser life.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 3:11 AM

I agree with bloodsong to a certain extent but this is a bit biger than a new figure. I don't think a seperate P5 forum is the answer, that would be too fragmenting. 'A P5 Only' checkbox might be interesting just to save time. Opening a post that says 'Help Rendering Problem' only to find out it's a Firefly problem might be considered a waste of time if you use P4 - unless of course you're interested anyway. Yes, I know that happens now anyway but with P5, there really is going to be a bigger divide of interests/needs I think. The PC/Mac "hostility" I see is just a few Mac folks bitching at CL for a sound business decision and I can't blame some PC users for a little 'Get a PC' payback towards a few Mac snobs. A few months in purgatory will give them time to meditate on their platform choice. Then, they'll be back as Macish as ever. As Frank Sinatra (supposedly) said, "It doesn't matter wheter it's God or Jack Daniels, as long as it gets you to sleep at night."

We are gathered here today on this forum to find not what divides us but rather to seek that which unites us. In good time we will all all know the truth of Poser 5 but in the meantime the common goals must not be forgotten - to create a form of self expression, to enjoy the company of others that share our interests and to help each other. To divide ourselves on petty issues only takes us into a darkness that serves no one that uses poser. We will survive this whole and on one forum provided we can remember that it is the artist and not just the tool which creates the art. Who can duplicate the beauty that they see in their mind if that mind is clouded? - TJ
