Sorry.. after reading "It's not the second coming of Christ!" in an earlier Poser 5 thread, I just HAD TO DO IT. ;)

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 1:50 PM

ROFLMAO, you'll have the bible bashers after you for that ;) Rob

sirkrite ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 2:13 PM

I knew it was the second coming and this is the proof! ;) LOL!

ardvarc37 ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 2:18 PM

Don't give me any more ideas, ardvarc ;)

Kiera I have a question for you, on which I tried to IM blackhearted but he did not answer. I notice in your "Ki" set it is mentioned about 'true' bump-mapping. Can you please tell me where I might learn about this? I am a Photoshop user, PSP 7, Corel Painter 6. I need a tutorial, Any help much appreciated Alex

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:19 PM

When we talk about "true" bumpmapping, we are referring to bump maps that aren't simply desaturated versions of the texture.

For example, in Ki's head map, you will notice that the eyebrows are white (to show that it REALLY sticks up off the browbone). If we had just desaturated the texture, the eyebrows would be black, which would be wrong.

Another example is Ki's makeup map. There is a different bump map for the makeup map because eyshadow, etc, has TEXTURE. It's not just an airbrushed and hue saturated eyelid; eyeshadow is powdery and textured.

Anyhoo, that's what we mean. ;)

jeweldragon ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:22 PM

lol kier that is funny:)

Dizzie ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:25 PM

I think you have it backwards...I believe Kiera is the bible basher using that image to do it...

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:30 PM

it's an english term for extremely religious people :) kiera is quite obviously mad but not a bible basher ;) j/k kiera. Rob

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:35 PM

Oh, but you are right. I am completely insane. ;)

ardvarc37 ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:42 PM

Kiera, thank you for the reply. That does make a lot more sense, far more realism in a much more realistic approach. Is there a good tutorial online you can point me to? Alex

file_19318.jpg

Could this constitute the proof that we have all been seeking ;)

c1rcle ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:43 PM

the line between genius & madness is very thin but only you could dance along it kiera ;) Rob

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:46 PM

Aard: I don't know of one, alas. =/ Basically it involves inverting the bump map and then erasing the parts that shouldn't be inverted. ;) badmoon: ROFLOL!

ardvarc37 ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:55 PM

Okay I understand but I need to know what to look for to do that, like knowing what to erase, a good tutorial would show the method and reasons. And then whether or not to re-invert back to orignal? Alex

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 3:57 PM

it's a matter of understanding what is recessed and what isn't.. for example.. eyebrow hairs would be UP (white) and pores would be DOWN (black). Lip cracks would be recessed (black). Scars would be up (white.)

PERFECT! now I get it. Lesson learned, time to practice. Thank you VVVEEERRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY much indeed! I ask you both to please make a good in-depth tutorial for these methods on here or (link) or your possible site? that would be really cool. Alex

We plan on having some tutorials at blackhearted.com.

I am getting ready to post tutorials on my site, also. I already have a couple there for Bryce and making maps with Photoshop.

My Poser tutorials will be:

  1. wet skin with pure Poser 4
  2. Clothes fitting tutorial for Poser 4 (getting, say, P4 Woman clothes on vicki without using The Tailor)

Also working on an extensive postworking piece, and possibly a tutorial on using Painter 7 to create textures. (that's what i use for makeup)

ardvarc37 ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 4:13 PM

Another note, I did buy the light set from Blackhearted, and I think the art on the site is really well done, beautiful work! Very "noir". Alex

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

heyas; it's 'bible-thumper,' not 'bible-basher'! and why does your christ have boobs???! and since he has boobs, where's your nudity tag? :)

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 4:53 PM

well, he has boobs because he's vicki, wearing a vicki texture. ;)

wdupre ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 5:41 PM

Hay badmoon thanks for posting that great Jesus Christ bumpmap I cant wait to try it on Mike ;P

badmoon ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 6:03 PM

If there was a demand for it I might think of making a transmap for the Holey Ghost ;)

sturkwurk ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 6:24 PM

Badmoon... that's brilliant. (Shroud)

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

lesbentley ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 7:36 PM

Love your "Second Comming" image, Kierra :)

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 7:40 PM

I would be very careful speaking ill of the Holy Spirit, i.e. "Holey". Very careful. The Bible has a very startling comment about those who do insult the Spirit of Grace, and it frightens even believers, and it certainly did me. And yes, the first image of this thread is offensive to me, but thanks for posting a warning at least. - a "fanatic, right wing, ultra conservative, bigot, intolerant, Bible basher, [add your favorite anti-Christian comment here], Christian."

krimpr ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 8:11 PM

Yeah-you gettem Talmidben!!!!!

Entropic ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 8:15 PM

What do you suppose is more offensive, Ben, that she used a Poser 5 box for the head, or that Christ is a naked Vicky? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa! Paul -a "nihlistic taoist with delusions of persecution from the fanatic, right wing, ultra conservative, bigot, intolerant, Bible basher, [add your favorite anti-Christian comment here], Christians." =)

TalmidBen ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 8:19 PM

"What do you suppose is more offensive, Ben, that she used a Poser 5 box for the head, or that Christ is a naked Vicky?" Hmmmmmm. I can't really say. But hey, at least she posted a warning. Probably what's most offensive, I guess, is that people are hostile, and not respectful, toward beliefs of others. These are just my thoughts. Ben

Patricia ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 8:29 PM

Hey---I'm a witch and NObody's respectful of my religion! But that's OK, because it's such fun turning 'em into toads.....(I have a large all-organic garden, you see...and toads eat bugs....................oh, never mind) Keep 'em on their toes, Kiera! LOL

Patricia ( ) posted Thu, 08 August 2002 at 10:39 PM

Nu-be..................................... Words fail me, but when you wake up tomorrow as an invertebrate, you'll know why! ;^) And most of my models are skyclad.....but it's because clothes are such a bitch to get onto both Mike and Vicki!

Madrigal ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 9:46 AM

Yeah, Patricia, and when you've turned them, they make great models for when you want to do one of those renders with a cute little fairy sat on a toad's tool :D Blessed Be

My gods........You may have hit upon a way for me (non-modeler me) to do modeling: All I have to do is come up with a 2nd spell to make them MESH.....!

artnik ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 1:30 PM

Just a comment. Does anyone realize that the ONLY images of Christ were all artists' representations of what they THOUGHT Christ looked like? Noone really knows. So what we see is just artistic imagination anyway. There are NO images of the real person. That goes for the Madonna as well.

Kiera ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 1:32 PM

So does this mean it's ok if my Christ has boobs?

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 09 August 2002 at 3:25 PM

heyas; well, technically, that might not even be jesus christ. just because he's the most famous person to ever be crucified, doesn't mean he's the only one. anyhow, you don't even have a cross. in fact, there's no identifying marks whatsoever, except the suggestive cruciform pose, the halo, and maybe the hip cloth. so i don't see how any christians can be offended, cuz you don't know that is him. he... um, or she... looks fine with the boobs, kiera. :)
