I'm using Bryce 5 to make this. Here's what I've done so far. The terrain is 4096 x 4096 x 512. I hit the mounds button a couple times and then raised their heights. The 57 Chevy (parked on a corner mound) is a DXF from Ray Dream Studio 5. I'm looking for a Ray Dream Studio 5 replacement because I think there are programs out there that do better photorealism renders (or maybe I'm just not using RDS5 right).

I'm hoping I can fix the materials for each part of the car instead of how it imported (I'm still amazed that the car imported without grabaged parts since it originally was inside a Car Repair building being worked on). I closed the hood before exporting it to DXF format. I tried to use the haze settings to give some depth to the scene.

I'm going to import a Poser 4 woman and place her on the right side of the scene. But I don't know what she'll be doing in the scene (car trouble maybe?). SHONNER http://www.shonner.com

How about making a Jonny Bravo like guy in the car and let the woman jump off the cliff in a desperate attempt to flee from the anoying macho? Also you need to polish the car and add some chrome to the weels and bumper. The windscreen needs to be made out of glass.

I set the materials on the car. The tires don't look right, though. Shouldn't they be casting darker shadows? What did I do wrong? Maybe the tires aren't dark enough under the car? I moved the Sun around for these other pictures: http://www.shonner.com/images/57b2.jpg http://www.shonner.com/images/57b3.jpg SHONNER http://www.shonner.com

Seems to me there is too much reflection in the paint on the sides of the car. I don't think you would really get this result in the real world? Paul

I was trying out the red aluminum on the car. It reflects too much when a certain amount of light hits it. SHONNER http://www.shonner.com

I have a rubberlike texture. If you play with bumpmaps you might be able to create more realistic tires. To make a darker shadow you should turn down the ambience of the object that receives the shadow. you can also take the lightlab and turn shadow intensity up. that way you get darker shadows. If you can increase metallicity than you should do that. This makes the original color of the texture shine through. At the moment the original color of the car isn't visible anymore at the side of the car. The chroome parts are perfect. you might want to make a different sky.

I think this can become a really good image. It has potential. What's your e-mail adress? I can mail you the rubber-texture.

I've been working on the perfect black rubber texture. The rubber nips on the front bumper look perfect. But the tires looks too clean. I'd like to have some dirt show on the tires and whitewalls. I've been kicking around the idea of adding tire tracks behind the car. The terrain's resolution is 4096 x 4096. But I don't know if that is good enough to paint accurate .5" deep trenches so that I can lay tire pattern bumps into them. Maybe that is the wrong way to go? I could use some help though with the tire/dirt textures. My email is shonner@hotmail.com. I took the cloud plane off (which used different Bryce presets) and am playing with the cumulus settings now. I fixed the whitewalls so they aren't black in this lighting. Pay no attention to the sky. This image just shows a closeup for the front. The rubber nips look good. Some of the objects are offset a bit. I was going to use Ray Dream Studio 5 to render this scene. But Bryce 5 does a hell of a better job as far as getting stuff to look real. And this is just a quick 2 - 3 minute render. Not some 1.5 hour, go out and get a pizza while you wait, job. SHONNER http://www.shonner.com/
