Try this: Load the OBJ file for the hair. Then do a New UV Map, Planar on the Z Axis Then check By Orientation. As long as the hair was saved in a neutral position this should split the hair model down the side and give you and front and back view on your screen. Then save the OBJ file and the Map under the File menu. That help? Clint

Hello, I don't think you are dumb. UV Mapper is a very powerful program that can do very good things. Like every great 3D tool it takes a little time and trials to learn. I would suggest going to Steve Cox's site and going through his tutorials. They are great. I used it to re-map the Raptor model. Good luck. Serpent
Oh boy! a guessing game! My turn - my turn!! 1) Might you have been reloading the original hair model after remapping -- instead of the new .OBJ file? 2) Or, if you are not using one of the latest versions of Steve's UVMapper, a bug in earlier versions caused the maps to be flipped vertically in Poser when saved with the default settings.
How do you load it with a new obj. file? all I do is try and apply the texture to the hair in my library. Is that wrong? O.K. this is what I do: 1. I export the model as an obj. 2. I select planar and all that good stuff 3. I save both map and obj..... Now what do I do? I make a test tex for it to see if everything matches up and guess what, it doesnt even come close! What am I doing wrong (or just not doing?)I'm using v2.0 if that matters. pleeeaase help!
Test UV Mapper on another object, preferably a simpler geometry, to get a feel for how it is working, or to see whether it is working at all.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
You've got everything exactly right in your first 3 steps. Your problem comes when you switch back to Poser and apply the texture to the HR2 file you saved the object for. Import the OBJ file you mapped and apply the texture to that, add in a new figure and make sure the hair is in the right position, then save it into the hair library under a new name. (Yeah, I've saved a remapped object over the top of an unmapped object so I ain't no rocket scientist grin) Paul
I've gotten erratic results with UVMapper since the last Poser bug fix. Frequently when I apply a UV Mapper created base texture, Poser applies it as-is to each material separately. I'm not sure what's causing this! Before this I had some great results with the program once I finally figured out how to use it!

I keep hearing how UV mapper is so easy to us but I cant seem to get the template for a hair model that I am using. Its The whisering winds hair I think. Every time I Try to make a map for it, it comes out In shapes that are too hard to paint on or if the shapes are good they dont match up when I render. help
