Subject: black spots on model when its rendered

hello again i was wondering if anyone knew how to get a rid of the black spots. its only there when its rendered... it seems to be where the splits for the joints. when i import it as a obj file there aren't any spots when i render.. only after i make it posable. thanks for any help time for me to head to bed!

I've heard UVMApper can help with this but I'm not sure what you do with it to get rid of the black spots. /me looks round for an expert to help :) Rob

Do they appear in the same places if you change the texture? If you get a chance, try changing the texture to something like the default ground texture and see if there's any change in their appearance.

Looks like there might be broken vertices in the mesh. Try the above, and if that doesn't work there are some WONDERFUL modelers that put things in free stuff. Ask nicely and maybe one of 'em might look at the mesh for you. Good luck. ;^)

I could be way off but could the marks be shadows? Poser may be "over-smoothing" the sharp edges of the model. If this is the case, you could add a tiny bevel to the sharp edges, or run the model through "split vertices" in UV mapper. Splitting the vertices will increase the file size of the model, though. H:)

All that might be the case, or it might have something to do with your system resources... I've had that problem a few times with Vicki... rebooting cleared it up...

It looks like the regular-normal degenerate polygons combined with something else, maybe shadows from them. Anyway, open the OBJ file in UV Mapper (the free one is fine), hit insert, and see if it finds any. If it does you will have to resave it and kill the RSR file in the geometry folder. If there are any morphs for this item they might not (now) work, too, as this changes the poly count.

thanks everyone i tried the UVmapper instert thing... it says that there are none... i was hopping that that would fix it :( hmm rebooting.... might try that, computer hasn't been rebooted in a few days

heyas; i've seen something similar to this.... it happened on a thin membrane when a pice of the inside started poking through the outside. try thickening the membrane, or you can experiment by assigning different materials to the upper and lower surfaces. turn the lower surfaces invisible (full transparency) and see if the same thing happens. if not, it's the mesh overlapping. if it still happens, then i don't know what it is :/ did you check for polygons with more than four sides in the model?
