I consider this my best character so far...took me all this weekend to complete but he was worth the trouble I believe.. Meet Emperor Justinien of Byzantium...we have a saying in Greek "a priest blesses his very own beard first.." meaning in this case that I stick to Greek history that's so familiar, even if I've changed era! :o) BTW I want to apologize that FairyWoods hasn't been updated yet...Xoom has given me some lousy uploading bandwidth this weekend but that's not the only reason..I have to wait for steve shanks to update Poserworld first, as lots of the new items are pointing that direction! Unfortunately my buddy got into a computer crash and since that's everybody's worst nightmare, I rely on your understanding and patience! :o) If things won't work out for us sometime in the middle of the week..then I'll compensate you for the delay next weekend with this fella, and hopefully with his wife too!(Empress Theodora) :o) renapd

Mikes..I'm afraid my research of byzantine textiles didn't turn up with as much purple as you were expecting! Those are authentic patterns of the era..try to forget the Hollywood movies! :o) renapd

Please understand that I'm not quibbling with your figure--it is stunning! I had expected more purple, judging from the mosaics at San Vitale and from the traditional title of the Byzantine emperors (which I'm sure I badly misspelled above). Maybe the purple/royal aspect in later garments was toned down after the Iconoclastic Controversy?

Mikes, I didn't take you wrong..that was just a joke! :o) To explain the word "porphyrogenesis" in Greek, it means that "he/she was born in porfyra" where "porfyra" is the garment worn by kings & queens, usually bright silky red and all relevant color tones! Sometimes it helps to be Greek to understand such complex words! LOL! renapd

Looks like you did some research on Byzantine clothing. What is that in his right hand? Did you see Monty Python's Holy Grail?
