Please understand that I'm not quibbling with your figure--it is stunning! I had expected more purple, judging from the mosaics at San Vitale and from the traditional title of the Byzantine emperors (which I'm sure I badly misspelled above). Maybe the purple/royal aspect in later garments was toned down after the Iconoclastic Controversy?
Mikes, I didn't take you wrong..that was just a joke! :o) To explain the word "porphyrogenesis" in Greek, it means that "he/she was born in porfyra" where "porfyra" is the garment worn by kings & queens, usually bright silky red and all relevant color tones! Sometimes it helps to be Greek to understand such complex words! LOL! renapd

Some amazing work Renapd, et al! I look forward to seeing Theodora! The richness and complexity of the cloyhing, textures, and the objects is wonderful. Looks like you did some research on Byzantine clothing. What is that in his right hand? Did you see Monty Python's Holy Grail?
