Mimic works for me, too. You might have directory damage, where Mimic is looking for a file on start-up and not finding it even though it's there. You could tell if you ran MacsBug or maybe the terminal in OSX. DiskWarrior will usually fix problems like that (OS 9.x), but rebuilding the desktop, zapping PRAM, or reinstalling apps is usually a big waste of time when the real problem is directory damage. If Windows had an app like DiskWarrior, you wouldn't hear about all these weekly "hard-drive crashes" they get.
Thanks to everyone for their replies. I have the CD in the drive from startup. Will Norton Disk Doctor fix this kind of problem with directory damage, assuming that is the problem? I don't have DiscWarrior and Norton's Doc takes forever to run. I'd probably get a reply before it goes through it's paces. This is SOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING! BUT thanks again to everyone...
My students beta'd the Mac product, and it works fine in OS 9, 9.1, 9.2, 9.2.2, 10.1, and 10.1.2. Make sure that you do not exceed the 64-character path limit. The best way to install MacMimic is to put it on the highest directory level - not the Desktop, but in the main Macintosh HD folder, e.g., Macintosh HD:Mimic It is also best to do the same thing with your Poser install. And I think you already know that you have to keep the CD in at all times. No, it does not work with either Virtual PC v3 or v4. One last item - make sure you are using the latest CarbonLib extension. -scara
Thanks to all those WHO HAD helpful advice. I finally got it to open. For anyone else who may have the same problem. Here was the fix for me...Norton Utilities...ran the Disk Doctor. It gave a report that the bit bundle for MIMIC was off and should be on. Then it fixed that with the "click the FIX button". After that, although I already had "rebuilt the desktop", I recalled that Conflict Catcher also has a "rebuild the desktop" function. So I opened CC and clicked on rebuil the desktop, again. Then I tried opening MIMIC and it finally worked. I recorded a few lines with Toast's Spin Doctor, which made an aiff file and it worked. Now I'm playing around with tweaking the animation. The Mimic version of my aiff has that restricted wired jaw look that Mimic gives. But, at least it can be tweaked. Thanks again for the HELPFUL comments.

I just got Mimic for Mac from DAZ and it won't launch. When I double click to open the app there's a quick flash of something in a small dialog box in the middle of the screen then it shuts down. I have Carbon Lib 1.5, I rebuilt the desktop, rebooted and no luck. There's is no manual for this thing...no tutorial or info at DAZ.com...Lipsinc.com is down. Can't find any help using Google. I'm pretty po'd with DAZ at the moment. I know I'm not the only Mac user experiencing problems. Any help would be appreciated. If someone has the fix, this may be the first and only place where a MAC Addict can get help with this. Until there is an answer, Mac users email DAZ and get an answer before buying. I'm going off to lick my wounds (^#$*&^%$#!@!!!!!!!!
