I don't know enough about Native American culture, but would a woman wear this headdress? Isn't that something the men wore? There are apparently different headdresses with different meanings, too, I think. Some are strictly for Chiefs, some for religious purposes, etc. I know that some of the NA tribes were matriarchal in nature, but I don't know enough to say if this headdress is appropriate on a woman. Unless you either are Native American or know enough about the culture, you might want to look into this so that no one is offended by its misuse. I've heard some members of the Native Americans say that they felt certain costumes and headdresses were misused in the movies. I would assume there are specific headdresses and adornments that are approporiate for women. Melanie

That does look like a warrior's crest on a female. Such would be VERY rare, but not unheard-of. Actually, the incredible variety of dress - both ceremonial and regular - among the native tribes of North America is so vast, almost ANYTHING is possible, though!

Thanks for your explanations. I came from switzerland, here we are open for everything and not offended in such ways. Sorry about the people i have offended with this combination, was not my interest. Hope, you can forgive me. SHARKEY

Sorry, I wasn't implying that anyone was offended, I just wanted to spare you the embarrassment in case anyone should bring it up. As I said, I know very little about Native American culture, so I was merely wondering if this was something a woman would wear. Besides that, I know that they regard the eagle feather as sacred and only used for certain purposes. And as an aside, your lady warrior might want to put some other clothes on -- she could get kind of cold out there on the battlefield in just a feathered headdress. :-) Melanie

...oh, and by the way, your headdress is beautiful. I'm sure a lot of people will want to snatch that up. Melanie
