Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 10:48 am)
sounds like the corrupt rsr or missing obj error to me, nothing really to do with memory on your machine, does this happen with everything you use or just certain items in particular, if it's just one or two, try deleting the rsr files that are with the obj in the geometries folder named in the error. Rob
Perfect! Thank you VERY much! I shall dig through and remove all the offending rsr files! Is corruption of this sort common? Also would a reinstall of Poser help correct this problem as well? I've noticed that certain hair models (gotten in the freestuff section of this site) and Victoria's catsuit especially are bad for this problem.
you could say it's quite common ;) reinstalling poser won't make any difference to addon rsr files, I've read about people reinstalling 3-4 times only to find the problem still there, upgrading to propack would cut down on the problem a bit tho as propack uses the obj file directly & doesn't make or use rsr files. Rob
Ahhhhhhhhhh okay! Propack time is it? Well I can do that... (gets out credit card and whimpers a bit). 8) Thank you VERY much, Rob, for the help... I'm having huge fun and adventures seeking out all the corrupting files (not). Wonder what the heck to do for the incredible corrupting catsuit... I guess I have to install the propack and then see if the installation will work finally. I'm trying to do superhero stuff, and I need that catsuit. 8) Amy
ahh before you buy propack, find the obj file, open the cr2 for the catsuit in a text editor, wordpad should do the trick, near the top of the file there's 2 references to the obj, they should look exactly like this: figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:ZygoteClothing:MilWom:blCatSuit.obj if the obj file isn't in that folder, you can change these 2 lines to point to the folder where it's hiding. that will fix the problem 100% Rob

Hullo! I've been getting some lovely new models and hair and clothes and so on, and I've noticed lately that I've been getting "You need to allocate more memory to Poser" alot. Now does this maybe mean that I need more RAM? I have 320 megs AND a TNT2 videocard. My Processor is a P3 500 or so (maybe faster, I'm not entirely sure) Is this a matter of running too many programs in the background while I'm trying to use poser? Or is this refering to my scrath disc? I remeber reading something about this problem, but can't for the life of me remember where. Could someone please make a suggestion on how best to deal with this? (And should this have been better posted in the technical forum?) Thank you VERY much!
