Subject: Which deformation to curve text?

3ddave44 ( ) posted Wed, 28 August 2002 at 1:03 PM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 3:48 PM

Hi - Every now and then I have a need to curve text (as if partly around a cylinder let's say) and no combination of options in the Curve/Twist deformation gives me the sought-after result. Does anyone know the correct deformation to use and/or which axis/limit/degree... I should use with the Curve/Twist deformation? Here's a pic of what I'm trying to do:

Here's a screenshot of what you asked about.

Patrick - Thanks so much - it's not only exactly what I've been wanting to do (for some time now) but the example you created is uncannily what I was trying to do on my most recent attempt at this - the text circling a sphere. Though I was not using the word "Renderosity" you've managed also to use the same (or nearly the same) font and bevel option I was using... : ) Now that's what I call service! : ) Thanks again! Thanks also litst for your suggestion - that's definately an interesting way to go about it - which I may even try. Dave

Hmm - the only thing is is that my text curves out the wrong way... Is there some other secret?

Hey sorry, I did this a while back and forgot two important steps. First, when you set your text check the bevels on the back side of the type. Second, after you bring your type back into the assembly room do a duplicate with symmetry on the X axis. That should do the trick.

You don't have to duplicate with symmetry, if you input a bend axis angle of 180 it should do the trick :)
