I need some advice on uploading images to the poser art gallery..I have a few problems... 1. On one of my pictures, people are stating that it is to big (like 650 kb) ..my problem is I don't know How to get it smaller ???.. 2. I don't know if this is a problem for everyone else but... when i upload my images, they are a pale comparison to what I see on MY computer..they are losing A lOT of quality...My images are not the best but ..what I see when i Finally get it on the gallery is BLAH !!... I have POSER4 Program and PHOTOSHOP , I am new to both (about 4 months or so..)..With photoshop, all I really know how to do is to 1) dodge items and 2) Sharpen them..that's about it... If people can give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.. Thank you for any of your time. CHAOSARCHANGEL...

What format are you saving your file in? if you open your image in Photoshop you can select "save a copy" and select jpeg from the dropdown list in the dialog box then it will ask you to set a compression ( a slider) select 7 or so to keep the quality but keep the file size down. ..also. I read (Photosop Bible) that if you save a jpeg..open it ......save it again...open it.. save it again....... the compression happens again and again.. and it gets progressivly worse. so watch out for that. Hawkfyr is right on the compression. If you save a compressed version, then open it, change it and resave - it gets compressed all over again. I always save an uncompressed version on my HD in PSD format and a compressed JPG to upload to the site. Hope this helps Paul

What I do is render the image in Poser then save that image as a JPEG. Then I open it up in Photoshop, Sharpen and touch it up then save it again as a JPEG..then upload into the gallery...is there a way I can cut out the "middle man" so that I don't re-compres the file again.. Also to re-address my other problem, I am still losing a lot of quality in my work when I upload ??..is there a way to save or upload the image without losing so much quality ??..My work looks fine on my computer, butThe uploaded images are usually blurry and lose lose lighting effects. Any help would be appreciated. thank you...

Poser 4 will save directly on Photoshop format (PSD) and that includes the alpha channel, which is useful in compositing pictures.

heya; i usually save as a tiff, but saving direct to psd is good. you can get a utility at... zdnet under jpeg optimizer, in which you can interactively set the compression ratio, and divide the picture into areas that are more compressed than others, etc. this will help you get the best looking picture for the lowest file size. another weird thing i noticed; when i save a file from photoshop and open it in psp or in jpg optimizer, the jpg version comes out darker and duller. you might want to do some experiments with the brightness/contrast or hue/saturation/lightness in 'shop. (on the menu, not the tools.) otherwise, the jpg should look exactly the same on the gallery as it does on your screen. (oh, and after you save as jpg from 'shop, reopen the jpg to see what changes it has wrought! cause the jpg does NOT look like the psd!)

Ok I.m appreciateing the help and responses, so what i'm gettin is that in POSER , I "save as" my image as ??? (JPEG) then open the (JPEG) in photoshop..touch it up, brighten etc..then "save as" again (JPEG) ??? to a location then upload ?? ..sorry for the re-clarification but some of the technical jargon is a bit over whelming to my newness...but again thanks..

If you save in Poser as .jpg, open in PS and save it again as .jpg, you're going to loose quality due to the double compression. Try saving in Poser with another format, work it in PS, save as .psd to keep an uncompressed original and save it again as .jpg to upload.
