I've had great success reporting bugs to e-on using their tech support forum. So there is a way to report bugs. I usually get a response in 36 hours.
Getting to the page where you contact a technician takes several steps:
From e-onsoftware's main page
Fill out the form and your there.
Here is a short-cut link of a search for 'wavefront'.

The link to the contact technician page may not work. Several times I've had to go back to step 1 in order to get the process to work correctly.

I must admit that most of the issues concerning OpenGL within Vue have been rectified since I purchased a GeForce4 Ti4600. I'm not so sure that drivers are the problem with the viewport corruption/slowness, as I'm using the same unified nVIDIA drivers now as I was with my Elsa Synergy 2 card. I'm starting to think that Vue is harder on video card hardware than I first realised, and wonder if the 128mb of graphics card memory (along withe the GF4 chip) I now have could have something to do with it ;o) As a side note, the new nVIDIA 40.41 version drivers have been released for Win2000/XP which are supposed to give a 25% increase in performance ;o) http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_40.41 Cheers

If e-on whan to avoid bad reputation the must fix the video thing. GeForce based cards are the most common so it simply have to work. If the case is that the drivers don't support everything and that this the reason for the problems (lack of speed and redraw) then the functions not normaly supported should be options to turn on. Vue should not have to be so silly slow compared to other 3D apps. If I want normal OpenGL shaded views with normal OpenGL speed then I should be able to get that. But as it is it does not matter what settings I turn of the OpenGL views are about 10 times slower than the none OpenGL view and the OpenGL in vue has about 1/30 the speed of any $50 shareware application that Uses OpenGL. I will of course give it a try with the new drivers but I guess this will be a new 'boot and activate OpenGl,reboot, get dissapointed, turn of OpenGL,reboot' thing.
Hi HellBorn, you won't have to reboot to disable OpenGL viewports in Vue, restarting the application will do the trick. ;) Regarding the OpenGL issue: I had a chat with a dev support guy at NV a couple of months ago about said issue. Apparently, Vue is the only medium-to-major application out there that uses a very specific kind of multithreaded OpenGL output. So unless e-on redid their whole front-end, it was up to NVIDIA to fix the issue (I am told that other manufacturers like ATi don't really have a problem with it). It was more difficult, he said, because some configurations didn't show the issue at all. Apparently, NVIDIA made up for it with the latest build of their drivers, Detonator40. At least I've heard from three independent sources who had previously had troubles with Vue/OpenGL that the viewport corruption is finally gone. Unfortunately, those drivers are a beta release riddled with other bugs, and only available for XP, too . . . ta, -Sascha.rb
Sascha.rb & Hellborn,
I installed 40.41 yesterday, and my picture seems to be improved (sharper & brighter). It could be just a subjective experience, but I did have to adjust my monitor's refresh rate. In Vue, my background draw refuses to work. Instant draw works great though. This is on my machine that has a Geforce2 video card and Windows XP Home.

For me, the background draw process WORKS with Detonator driver v23.11.
I balance the drawing processes between instant draw and background draw. I set the instant draw slider to a faster setting, and the background draw to a better setting. That way, I can manipulate objects quickly and then during a pause, study the previews.

Hmmm...where has e-on support gone.. I can no longer find a email at e-on that seem suitable for bug reports. They now seems to have turned into one of those companies I hate that don't want to communicate with costumers. When looking for support you get bounced between a FAQ page that don't help and a page with email adress witch tells you to not excpect to get an answer. Then there is the feedback page..but to me feedback is about 'I don't like this or that kind of mail mails...and not for two way communication. I hate and avoides companies that don't have a simple 'If you want to talk to us use this email address. I surly hope there is such an adress someware and that it's just me thats stupid and can't find it. Untill I do I have to try it trough this forum. 1. I have once before reported that there is a bug in the Wavefront import to Vue. If the 'mtllib' command in the points to a file that beggins with the letter 'f' there will be an error on inport and the file won't load. As an exaple 'mtllib f104.mtl' wont load. If I manually cange the line to 'mtllib ./f104.mtl' or 'F104.mtl' it will however work. I have tried all lowercase characters from 'a'-'k' (then i got tired of it) and 'f' was the only one giving this problem in that range. 2. The realtime render speed sucks. E_on told me that they was working together with Nvidia to solv the problem. So..any progress...
