Subject: how to do bruises ?

How to do bruises in specified section of the characters(people or walls or others)? There's a (simply-->I'm not an expert) procedure for do it? Bruises like finger pressure on cheeks or fist crushed stomach or similar... Thank you!

I like to use the burn tool in photoshop to paint blemishes like that onto the texture. Rawn

Thank for reply. But I don't use photoshop and don't know how work this feature....is this method with tridimensional effect? Is'nt possible to use something like a magnet?

If you're going to do textures and surfaces, you really need to have some kind of paint program. One other method that might work: Use a Ball prop; set its Y scale small to make it almost flat. Set its color to violet. Place it inside the character's skin at the point where you want a bruise.

Do you want bruises (discolored areas of the skin) or indentations (finger pressing on cheek or fist into stomach)? For discolored skin, a paint program is best. For indentations in the surface, you'll have to use the (ugh) magnets.

These bruises are all done with caustics (burn and dodge) in Painter and Paintshop Pro. You can also get away with using a bump map for indentations and ligature marks, if you're careful to match it up with a high-res texture and avoid using magnets.

I have some photos of bruises on my site, the result of an accident I had in July 2001 where I totaled my car. The textures can be used as is or as references for making your own. -darlisa

Thank you all for the support,probably mistake was caused english is not my language....so,with "bruises" I intend the flexed skin under the pressure of something,for example a finger that push a single,little point on a body(cheek,abdomen,or another flexible body part)or also the effect of a stomping on the bed! This was the cause I don't understood the Photoshop reply... Probably,I need some kind of magnet,but I don't know if I need some particular magnet or if I've to modify in some way a pre-existent magnet(I never try this procedure),or if there's another way!! I apologize for my not clear question. P.S:I find usefull your link jelisa(I use an essential corel photo for my textures).

For a small impression I guess you could use a bump map. But for larger ones and for props like beds you should probably use magnets. Select the part of the character or prop you want to change, open the Object menu, and click Create Magnet. Then read the manual and any tutorials you can find. Prepare yourself for a grueling experience.
