Subject: Is This Acceptable? (Need Input)

Talon69 ( ) posted Sun, 01 September 2002 at 3:36 PM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 2:05 PM

ok.. ive been tediously working on a project... in hopes to have a release ready by the time american football season starts...

fb_uniform_2.jpg

first the details -

  • the football pads consist of 5 separate parented props
  • the pants will be PCF encoded.. requiring the catsuit
  • the jersey is a conforming figure
  • the helmet & pads & other accessories (not necesarrilly shown) are parented props
  • major collisions occur (between the jersey and the pads) when you use more "extended / active" poses.. simple poses require minor adjustments to the pads in order to keep them under the jersey

now... where the questions start...

1 - is this a pain? i mean, it is a pain to set up completely, but once its set up, it works pretty well..
2 - is this acceptable for the more picky shoppers?
3 - considering the above & below facts - would you consider it a worthwhile item?

the facts...

a - the shoulder pads need to be separate props in order to get the poses to work (extreme - non-realistic poses are nearly impossible to get to look right)
b - the shoulder pads dont need to be on the character in order to use the jersey (its not seen :) - unless you use a see-through practice jersey your input in this matter is greatly appreciated... please keep in mind - the product is not quite done. :D

Very cool. I might make a few morphing options available, like opening or tightening the sleeves of the jersey and to shorten or lengthen the legs of the pants, but structurally it's pretty darn good.

People in the U.S. wear all that just to play football??? What do they wear when they are doing something dangerous?

Hi Les how about we set up virual match between the English Rugby football team and an american football team? New contest perhaps? Seriously though from what i know of American football (which admitedly is not much) it looks really good good work Dave

Are you kidding? Most American football players would last about five minutes under Aussie rules.... :)

Go Aussie rules. c(: (sorry getting off the track)

ok.. as someone who played the sport in college (and is ignoring the derrogatory comments from the peanut gallery), and have to say that things look pretty good, except that the pants should end just below the knee. (after watching and playing the game for about 30 years I've never seen this length vary). Like VS said, though, the sleeves should have morphs to make them short and tight fitting (like a lineman would wear, to prevent them from being grabbed) to longer and loose fitting (for ease of movement needed by QB's and receivers). Everything else looks great. BTW... I enjoy pretty much all sports, especially rugby and aussie rules football (rules?? what rules). And I won't say anything bad about those cute little shorts you guys wear to play in. Our basketball players wore shorts like that.... in the 1970's.

very nice looking forward to seeing this in freestuff. now we just want to see those tight little shorts :)

Talon, what are the chances of morph dials for the P4 default?

Talon69 ( ) posted Mon, 02 September 2002 at 2:03 PM

ok.. attempting to cover all the replies - 1 - im adjusting the pants now.. will be making them shorter to be more realistic.. i wish i would have thought of that before :) my bad.... 2 - a couple other things will be added as well.. kneepads, braces, kleets.. etc... still working on them.. 3 - the jersey idea? easily solved with a transmap.. due to the complexity of the arms on the jersey, a simple morph just isnt feesable.. but a transmap works just perfectly.. 4 - freestuff? sorry.. not this time.. especially with an upcoming release at daz of a similar item? its just not right to give it away for free... sides.. i spent a lot more time on this than i did on the birdcage, and other things.. i hope it doesnt dissapoint too many people.. but shorts? thats a good idea too.. :) 5 - virtualsite - good idea.. ive taken most of what you have said and am putting them into play.. what i will actually be doing (due to the complexity of the items, is just creating separate conforming figures for the poserdude... i even thought of doing a posette version :) ya know.. for the gals that love to play football.. if you are interested in giving this a whirl before i put it on the marketplace, or elsewhere, let me know.. u are more than welcome to fiddle with it.. anyway. thanks to all for all the comments..

Lovely stuff, you've done a really nice job. Being english I'm not too familiar with the fine details of the body armour but as an overall package it looks good.

Its looking Great Talon..and I will have the poses done about the time of your release on this item..so they can go together as planned. Hoping theres a good market for both:)I should let everyone know that the item will be placed in my store so theres no misunderstandings wehn they see it and think I stole it from you..lol.

very good... my budget is such that the woman in charge of the bank account (i.e. my wife) doesn't let me buy as much as I'd like to from this place, but this is one that I'd really like to have. Looking forward to seeing it in the MP.
