Hello, Thread reference : http://arthur.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=852274 Yesterday I reinstall ALL my system, XP, Poser in minimal configuration (only for testing) and Vue 4.10.2 And I can't still import this car, Always the same stupid error message "cannot read file..." The same file could be read by Poser and other Vue users without any problem. Any idea ? or should I open a bug repport ? thanks Laurent

I do know that when you have something you have worked on in Poser and you want to import it into Vue, you have to actually shut Poser software down, or close it up, then you should try to import it. Are you importing a .pz3? Sharen

yes it's a pz3, and poser is shut down ! I really don't know what's wrong with it.

have you updated to 4.1 in Vue yet? Sharen

ablc ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2002 at 9:48 AM

yes, and i found another problem: I use Mikey in Poser, opem his mouth and import it in vue. The open mouth is lost ! I think i will throw away vue soon...

I am so sorry you are having these problems, I saw your other post, all I can tell you is when you save your pz3 file, try to save it to a general folder outside of Poser, or save it as an object file. You see I don't have those problems so I am beginning to wonder why you do, unless something is installed incorrectly or crossing paths somehow. Try an object import and see if your Vue will accept that? Sharen

I don't believe it !!! The OBJ works fine ! The face is correct ! What the heck is the problem ???

Are you using Windows XP (pro or home) as I am? I had the same problem with the Jeep. I gave up trying to import it. This was weeks ago. I tried both the .obj and .pz3 file formats. I was able to get part of the jeep imported. The wheels wouldn't load. Sometimes when Vue is unable to load a file, just keep trying until it works. My instincts tell me it's a memory or buffer problem, but I have 1 gigabyte of RAM. So I can't see why...

Yesterday, I imported a p4 female (.pz3), and her clothing geometry (wrinkles in her pants) were exaggerated. I don't why. The first time I've seen that happen.

Filing bug reports with e-on is the best way to get these issues fixed. Bringing bug issues to this forum is a good way to determine if the problem is widespread.

yep XP here with 520Mo Ram

I have XP home, but have used it in ME, and never had a problem, the only thing that sometimes happens is after I tell Vue to import a file, whether it be an .obj, .3ds or .pz3, from time to time it says can't open, as soon as I close that box, I try again and it opens it.....some kind of hiccup I think in Vue or XP in the interupt system. Sharen

I got 512mb ram....I use to have no problems though in my other ME with 512mb ram either though. Sharen

You can import a Poser file into Vue without closing it in Poser or even closing Poser itself. As long as you have the 4.1 patch. Actually I think the patch before it fixed this problem. I only have 256MB RAM on my desktop and Vue runs faster than Poser. I'm using WinXP Home. It seemed faster in WinME though and have been tempted to return to it.

Poser 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Pro 2014, 11, 11 Pro

ablc; Have you run a clean up utility, such as the WinDoctor in Norton Utilities? Windows leaves a =lot= of junk in the registry after an install, and the NT kernel based versions have those private desktops for each user. File links are placed there, and document links, and they can -really- cause trouble if the get cross-linked into something they shouldn't. This might explain why you're having trouble with the PZ3 imports. The NT kernel has some funky file protection ideas, and if it thinks part of something is supposed to be protected.... I've never seen -any- Windows installation that didn't throw up a bunch of dead desktop links, unfound files and dll's, missing helpfiles, and the like, even from a clean install. Another thing to check is exactly what kind of CD-ROM drive you loaded Vue from. There is something tricky about the installer that makes it unstable if you rip it from a CD, and from what I've seen, the CD-DVD drives of the early types can have random file corruption trouble with the installer.
