Subject: What does this error message mean?

After 3 days of sporatic playing without any problems, I finally ran into this screen when trying to load Poser5. I've turned the program on and off several times without this happening... anyone know what it means???

Something got misread in your .ini file. I'd make a bug report and send it to CL. Beyond that, not sure. I think most XML errors are going to be configuration related, so if you've recently made any changes to the configuration, that might have something to do with it. ;) Paul

Try deleting your Poser/Runtime/Prefs/Poser UI Prefsx.xml file. HTH, -Jack

Erm... I'm in the process of reinstalling now (too impatient, dontchaknow. But I will try deleting that file if this happens again. Thanks for the help!

Okay... DO NOT delete that file. Now Poser won't open at all.

Just a thought- are you using IE 6.0? You may want to get the latest version (the one that includes the most up-to-date "XML Parser"). --John

What? You mean Poser 5 requires me to upgrade & use IE 6? !!

I'm using whatever comes with MicroSerf XP. I reinstalled everything from scratch and realized after the second time there are 2 P5 folders: one is Poser5... the other is Poser 5. You cannot delete either of them (as I did the first time thinking it was my download error). I think this is the same nonsense as the character and characters files found under Runtime.

I can see right now this is going to be confusing as I try to reorganize my files so I can start using all my old Runtime files again.

The amusing (or not) thing about all this is that you may need to re-install XP to be able to install the service pack that updates IE6.0 to the latest version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828-1920 according to mine. (I know I did :) later jb

I've reinstalled about 10 times (not an exaggeration) since this original post. I kept getting the same message with minor variations between "line 11" and "line 16". Finally, I have a stable P5, but gods above only know what I did to finally get this thing to work. I'll try to stay alert when making changes in the future to see if they affect P5. Very strange.
