Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 9:14 am)
Someone pointed out to me that if you raytrace the shadows in the light properties for the light falling on the face, the nose won't glow. With the strand hair this will make it take a looong time to render. I haven't played around with it enough, but if you had one light on the face and one on the hair, then maybe you could get away from the long render time.
The glowing nostrils and teeth, etc, seem to indicate Poser 5 (like the previous versions) have trouble (or are unable to) render self-shadows on small objects. Like, I still haven't seen a render when the nose casts a shadows onto the face. Likewise, the lips and muth usually shadow the teeth in real life.
This comment is not about your render Sharen -it's very nice and you always do exceptional work. But,I still feel the hair I have seen so far in Poser 5 renders to me is straw like and stiff looking. As if a ton of hair spray was been added. Perhaps its in the refection values (raytrace or mat prams)- the examples I have seen to date are plastic and just plain to shiney...or perhaps Judy just needs a good conditioner.
Sharen the images look great! You really are digging right in!

wow good job, I also feel like Poser 5 gets better after the system is shut down and opened again. I had restarted but until I did a complete shut down it seemed slow. Discovered more about my computer's memory set up and got more memory and it seems to be much better repaints faster etc. I am still lost with the p5 figures, no muscle morphs and such but got my p4 figures loaded and am learning more about the program. I am also finding that the texture maps that come with judy and don seem to be different between body and head, have not figured that one out yet, but the head textures are darker....
This is another reason, I haven't installed P5 yet. Sure, at first, it seems like a buggy 1.0 release. The next day, no crashes, and it seems "faster" for some unknown reason. By next week, your computers will be singing "Daisy" and locking you out of your homes. The reason P5 doesn't include the Lost In Space robot is that it would be warning you.
