I'm not a legal eagle, but the request in the attached link looks questionable. Is asking somebody to send them a DVD of a t.v. show analogous to asking somebody to send them a CD of Poser or 3DS Max? T.V. shows sometimes end up on DVD sets, so why not just wait for that?

What's Renderosity's policy on DVD trading like this? It would be a shame if this kind of activity caught the eye of Viacom or other copyright owners.

Yet VCR's have "record" buttons....and yes...computers DO have CD recording capabilities....and so on and so on... this has always confused the hell outta me...everything is illegal yet all the instruments for copying or doing illegal are readily available.....one would think the catalysts would be just as illegal as the crimes...??? That's like someone smiling and giving a kid a candy bar and then turning around in that same breath and screaming "don't you DARE eat that!!...it's BAD!!" Same dumbness.... Oh well....not for me to figure it all out....just obey...go with the flow...

Yes it is analogous. It is perfectly legal to record a show on a VCR, or whatever, for your personal use. It is not legal to distribute that no matter the reason. I feel sorry for the guy that will lose the ability to legally watch his show because it is no longer carried by a station in his area. But it isn't legal to send him a copy.

You would be right, it does break the copyright laws.

Oh puleeaz people. Not like I was going to make a profit off of it ! You're considering this to be warez? Not every show in the universe will end up on CD. And so to be a legal on this issue, I'm to wait until it comes out on DVD or VHS and then watch it? Give me a break!

What you do off site is not for us to control. Talking about copying copyrighted material on this site is. We are not saying it is warez, or you would be gone from here. We are saying it breaks the copyright laws and ask you not to discus it here. Hope this clears it up.
