i dont think i totally follow, but poser pz3's will save the material info on files...... also, as far as mats go, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST download mat pose edit from the free section. it will save you tons of cr2 editing work. that utility makes it a snap to create (and save) material settings..... (honestly, its one of the best things around here 2 get..... i dont know what id do w/o it....)
In Poser5 I noticed if you get a node the way you like it and you want to make settings the same for other materials in your scene, you can right click and 'copy', then paste when you go to your next material, then plug the node in wherever it goes. Like when I was making hair and needed the same setting for each hair group, it speeded up the process a lot. There's an 'apply to all' setting but I was scared to try it ;-) having spent a good decade getting everything all set up...

This is probably a dumb question, but I couldn't find a way to save materials in the manual. Thanks Sharon
