Subject: galleries are such a pain

wow! just for 3 images i had to wait for 10 minutes and im even on DSL. talk about degradation. oh thats even on the quick gallery mode. no wonder there are lesser views and comments.... its just such a pain. hopefully things will iron out soon enough before it gets a lot of people mad.

I agree, not only the galleries but also this forum here! Its no fun to view the galleries, or doing anything here.

d_authority ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 1:36 PM

yup... no fun these days!

shadownet ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 1:49 PM

Ain't it the truth! DSL is not available, so I am on a slow dial up to start with. I have given up waiting for pages to open, both at the Gallery and in the Forum, and just go away frustrated. It really is no fun these days!

I managed to get into the galleries for the first time in weeks the other day but I'm not even going to try again for a while, hopefully they'll get the problems fixed soon.

Wow. Good to know it's not just me.

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 2:42 PM

I've complained a few times. It's been several weeks now and even though there are mentions of server upgrades, etc., I see no improvement on this end. Actually, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I have had good response when 1800 people have been on and crappy response when 1100 people are on. But, it is getting tiresome. I've just about adopted a new position on the whole thing: I log in. If it's slow...I leave. It's too aggravating to me to wait anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes for a screen to materialize.

queri ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 2:53 PM

There was one evening when it was fast enough to be enjoyable-- I thought, wow, the upgrades helped-- and one hour later, it was slower than death yet again. I do whole fractals in the time it takes to get a picture up. I know my DSL is criminally slow but I don't know how anybody on dial-up can stand it. I'm usually screaming at the pics after a page. I agree to what chuck and queri say; I wait for the severupgrades to make things better, i log in and it runs very well, 10 min later , slow as always. Ans 2 min seems to be a good time for a new screen in this days :-((

Allen9 ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 4:06 PM

Yep - it's either wait and wait and then FINALLY a page comes up, or (more and more often these days), I get "Action timed out when trying to connect" or "Connection refused" or it just goes into "Resolving Host: Renderosity.com" and never connects at all. It's incredible frustrating and getting more so with each passing day. At this rate before long it will take an hour to load a page IF you can get in at all. I though things were supposed to get better after the server upgrade. :o(

Yea this is pretty sad, very annoying, and being on dial up, I just leave too

xoconostle ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 6:10 PM

I can only imagine how upset I'd be if I were a merchant here, because as a consumer, it's no fun to have to wait and wait and watch pages expire when you're shopping, or trying to shop...

Thought I'd snap the screen and open photoshop and paste and crop and save and get a pic ready for upload. Darn near beat R'City! Anyway, not that anyone needs to see it any more than they already do....grin.

Now that qualifies as a sick joke! LOL!

demosthenes_aborigin ( ) posted Thu, 19 September 2002 at 8:03 PM

hell, this place loads so slow my browser usually gives up, says the page is not available. Rather annoying.

Hmmmm. So I'm not the only one waiting, eh?

Well, it's 9:53 here on the east coast and there are 1231 surfers online. Rosity is so screwed. To get to the forums, it took 10 min to load a page and another 10 min to open this message thread. I almost left. It's been really slow and rediculous to get around here since the new servers. They need to take these things back for a refund because they really got cheated with bum equipment or the servers just aren't setup right. On way or the other, Rosity has gotten slower than any other Poser site I go to. I really used to enjoy coming here but for the past couple of weeks, it isn't any fun anymore. Most of the time I just leave when I get "page cannot be displayed", "too many connections" or Rosity just simply stops responding and I'm left with nothing more than a white screen. Now, that's only for the forums. I don't even try to go to the Poser gallery anymore. 10 min to display a forum page is fast compaired to a gallery page. I've actually been able to watch and entire 30 min TV show while one single gallery page loads. Rosity never usesd to be this slow. It just keep getting worse day after day. If it keeps going like this, they are going to run alot of people away to other sites. I know I got to 2 of them more often now instead of coming here where I can take a nap while trying to move around from page to page. Sorry Rosity but this used to be a fast site but lately, it just downright sucks. Queri, "slower than death" was a very good comparison but I think death is quicker than Rosity.

And here is another something that isn't right. Earlier Dirk sent me a link to some inage in the poser gallery. The link had the info for the gallery but when I clicked it, 5 min later, the Free Stuff page loaded.
