Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 12:36 pm)
"But do we really have to wait until then to find out what will be covered in the patch? I mean, we could get about a week's head start on whining and complaining if you told us now." On the other hand, not knowing has never stopped the whining before. People were complaining about P5 LONG before they had the product to complain about... May I start? I bet even WITH the patch it will not be able to read my mind, and will still do what I tell it to do instead of what I want it to do...
"Just remember, everyone. No matter how many problems P5 might have, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor was much, much worse. " LOL, went through that one myself. could have been a great game if it didn't destroy your hard drive when you uninstalled. there's a great option for software... the "you can never uninstall me" option. :)
I would also like an update patch with no installer because I remember that P4 first patches didn't install properly on foreigner's machines (I am french) and we add to wait with the zip hand install patch to upgrade our P4. btw No installer doesn't mean no license checking it can be an auto-extractible exe not necessarily a zip file.

Let's see, Poser 5 was released September 12 (for argument's sake) and a patch will be ready on September 30th? Barely 2 weeks after the software's release, a patch is ready? Something doesn't quite add up- usually it takes a long time for comapny to gather all the reports from customers, then decide which issues need to be addressed, then which things should be fixed, then start programming all the changes, and then test all the changes to the code. It makes me wonder if this is an actual "responding to customers' issues" patch or if it's really a "here's what should have been in the final release, but we ran out of time" patch. Let the speculation begin, on what the patch actually fixes! --John

There were a few content files that were packaged incorrectly and it wasn't discovered until after the CD was burned. I'd assume part of the patch addresses this. That part would be easy to correct right away. Also, sometimes a big bug turns out to be a small piece of code that's easy to fix. Then again, sometimes it's a huge re-write. Hopefully this was the former. P5 was shipped 6 September. The CD burns were probably at least a week before that. CL did admit that they knew of bugs before the CD burn, so we're talking at least a month of code hacking to find the bugs. A wide range of bug reports may have helped narrow down the possible areas for troubleshooting as well. (And some of us did troubleshooting on our own and submitted the results to CL.) My opinion: someone finally commented out the section that says, "set crash = yes"
Does this mean that the full body morphs are fixed? Will we need to patchif we buy P5 in November? I'm hoping to buy a working version with no need to patch.
