Subject: P5 Hair - Exportable?

Axe ( ) posted Thu, 26 September 2002 at 1:08 PM ยท edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 12:20 PM

Before I upgrade to P5, I'd like to know if the hair is only supported within Poser, or if I export the model as .obj or .3ds does the hair export properly as well. I was wondering if the hair is really geometry or a trick of the new renderer. And does it make the file sizes astronomical on export? Thanks!

Attached Link: Exporting hair from Poser 5

The hair is only supported in Poser 5. It can be exported but it doesn't play well with others. See the link above.

Summary: you can export it, but it ends up looking like an old piece of driftwood and takes up half your HD. That's progress for ya!

export as OBJ and open it in LW 7.5 , and save as OBJ again to get the driftwood,:P So no need to do the editing work of you have LW 7.5. HTH.

Thanks! Looks like I'm either stuck rendering in Poser or making my hair outside of Poser like I do now.

Use the Group Editor to create a new prop and export away! Anthony Hernandez Curious Labs

Maybe in B6? After all these years, you think Corel and CL will ever accomplish what the creators didn't do? Oh how I would love to see compatability!

Hmmm... I was just wondering what the poly count is for a hair object exported from P5? I've imported "Simple" grass models into Bryce, Cinema, and Carrara. And they've been a REAL pain in the a*s for the programs to handle (I have an Athlon 1900+ and 512 Megs) Unless you want the figure to have a straw wig look, then how hard will this OBJ hair export hit an artist's computer? Simple? I wonder...

Question: If you divided the skull into sections, how do you export 'em all as one hairpiece?
