Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
The .crz files are nothing more than .cr2 files compressed using standard Z-lib compression (new thing in Poser 5). You can load a file into Poser, disable compressed file support, and save the results to a new filename or use Winzip or Stuffit to do the trick in decompressing the file. HTH, Kuroyume

Has anyone sucessfully extracted these files? I use winrar and I get an empty folder -Winzip will let me view the file but it won't extract them (Tried on two different computers)and zip-it says that .crz is not a valid zip file -what did kuroyume mean when he said that I can load the file in Poser? Thanks
I changed the folder options for to show the file extensions and the file was leotard.gz.crz -so I change it to leotard.gz and windows confirms with t message that im changing the files extension -now the file appears in properties as leotard.gz. So I figure I got it but then I open it in winzip and it still (I dont know how)has it as leotard.crz and it still won't extract -have you used winzip to do this-maybe it only works in powerzip???
JHoagland: Why not? See "Poser 5: Reference Manual" Page 60 (and I quote, my emphasis): Note Some Advanced Artists use a text editing application to directly edit Poser files. You must uncompress compressed files before editing them. To do this, you can either load a file into Poser, disable compressed file support, and save the results to a new filname or USE A THIRD-PARTY COMPRESSION UTILITY SUCH AS WINZIP OR STUFFIT to uncompress the file. If you use the second method, you can recompress the file when you've finished making edits. Kuroyume

Turn off compressed file support and then save the character to the Character library. One would hope that it would save to the appropriate Runtime folder as .cr2 and not .crZ. Kuroyume

I was looking at a tutorial to make poseable props in 3dMax and I noticed that there are no cr2 files in poser5 -they seem to have changed to .crz files which dont seem to be editable -any ideas? Thanks
