Subject: P5: Renderitis--or---who's holding down the render button ???

Another bizarre tale from Dave.... I saved my wip football scene as a pz3. Now, when I load it, the thing starts to render right away...that's cool, I guess, as it gives me a preview of where I'm at... Then I loaded a background image...it was loading the image and started to render again... OK...I have number 99 on the quarterback...or did he get hit so hard the numbers got tattooed on him...anyway, clicked Material tab---rendering started again.... Yikes...hit Pose...render again.... If there is anything positive about the whole deal, I know the scene can render, but it would be nice if it would only render when I chose it to... It appears I may as well delete this scene and start over.

oh...here's the image so far..its a practice session, thus no opponents :) note #99 on the QB....it was meant for the lineman...wrong dude was picked....

This sort of thing (auto-rendering) occurs in Poser 4, also (although it hasn't happened to me ... yet). I think it has something to do with the PZ3 you saved, so unless you can track down the problem in that enormous text file and fix it manually, you'll probably have to start over. And that's why I do incremental saves.

don't delete your pz3 file--try renaming it to a .cr2 file and throwing it in your character library. You should be able to load it from there like a character, but it'll bring in the whole scene. Might not fix your problem but it's worth trying before you chuck it.

This may be easier. Import your pz3 (or is it pzz) from an empty scene.

Pablos...yes..importing seems to have worked...thanks much :) Wonder what is amiss in the file that causes the render???

A few digits must have flipped that Poser 5 can't handle. It hasn't happened to me in P5 but I had it happen once in P4 like Litte_Dragon mentioned.

I have seen others mention this but it has not happened to me in p5. I have had it happen a few times in p4. Ron

I always, always save before I render, even if I only changed one thing, and for every hour or so of work I save to a new file, ever since poser 4 (pre-patch) corrupted a file of mine for no good reason. Saving before rendering helps clear up virtual memory anyway, leaving more for rendering. (Still not enough for P5 tho...sigh)

oops...it was stated thus: This should be fixed in the soon-to-be-released SR-1 for P5. guess maybe it may be sr2 ?? LOL...we'll hope for 1.
