This is a WIP I can't for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the artifacts (grey streaks) top and right of center. I tried tweaking the cloud materal. dithering and Gamma correction are off. This didnt happen until I merged my cloud scene with the tower scene but both scenes when viewed individually don't show the artifacts. also speaking of merging ... Which scenes camera dots and settings will the scene default to after a merge. I had to reset all my camera settings after a merge. I tried Both ways, Cloud (host scene)merge tower... and Tower(host scene)merge cloud. all camera setting were screwed up both ways. is this a bug? anyway any suggestions on how to get rid of the blemishes, without post production? Thanks Hawkfyr

those look like shadows to me. Inverted shadows of the towers somehow. how to get rid of them, I have no clue

yup, looking at it again, it's not inverted, but it's eaither a shadow or a reflection of the first tower

Hawkfyr.....great image so far...I think Bonestructure is right . Turning off cast shadow and receive shadow should work. Looking forward to seeing this one progress. H2

Oh, not for the tower but for the spheres you used for the clouds.....H2

Hawkfyr ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 8:12 PM

Thanks H2 for reminding me do disable recieve shadows for spheres.( I love Making my own Clouds) This one still has a way to go.this was the one I was working on before the re format. But I'm trying to be patient with my work now ...but I need to be carefull of tweaking it to death and knowing when to say " okay...Thats enough...Move on now" Thanks again H2 Hawkfyr

Hey Hawk, It's just me picking a bit so don't get yer knickers in a bunch! Lightning will usually strike the tallest object, then go to ground. Your lightning looks like you created it in the material editor which is fine, but I would suggest a bit more tweaking so they don't appear so ribbon-like. Love the overall image and effect. Looking forward to the "final" render. Regards, - Art -

no Bunched knickers here Art, :)~ The lightning is actually a lattice. In the final image I have shrunk them and put them end to end to reduce the ribbon look but not on all of them , I'll revisit this one but for now I'm trying my hand at lattice work and I'll be hopefully getting word back from Jack and Ed adout My challenge forum and gallery project I welcome all comments Art Thanks Hawkfyr

Neat pic hawkfyr! i'm not sure there's anything else to say about the artifact problem, that's been covered pretty well... as for the camera and sky dots... this has been an annoyance to me- i find that i run out of camera dots real fast, and sometimes when i merge files the dots get lost or carried over. i'm not quite sure why this is (it may be a bug), but i think that the bryce 4.01 update (if it's still up on the MC page...) does a rather good job of fixing this. Gecko PS: btw, option (alt) clicking on a dot erases it- a useful tip for scenes with lots of camera views...

Thanks Gecko, I downloaded that patch the first day it went up lol. I just think it freaks Bryce out when you merge scenes. it says hmmm.... now which Camera dots should I keep. I personally think it should be the Host file. So what I do now is just alt click the dots and start again :( Hawkfyr
