Subject: Displacement mapping

I've upgraded to P5 SR1 and now my displacement mapping no longer works. Try this: Add a high res sphere from the Props. Add Armour of the Ages material (hmann materoials/displaced). Shouldn't that have an ambient colour other than black? Hmmm. Anyway, change ambient to grey, turn production render and render. The pattern is rotated 90%. Hmmm. Again. Try rotating camera 90%, pattern all over the place in preview view. Render. Displacement still everywhere but where it should be. Also, I tried adding a displacement map to Michael. Completely white except 1 black line for test. Entire figure devolps stripes, holes and flaws. Any ideas please?

Aha, I've discovered the problem with the body texture - I had the map colours inverted so the texture was literally bulging at the seams. Still no solutio to the Armour of Ages mis-mapping though. Thanks folks. Interesting picture idea laverson. Maybe someone should tell Mike that there's skin cream to deal with that sort of thing nowadays? ;-)

That Armour of Ages is heavily refracted and will behave oddly just on account of the optics. I had no trouble with the weave mesh on a sphere.
