What is that in the center of the table? Lava? If so you might want to make it give off some light, give it a hot feel. Also try turning on your Total Internal Reflection (TIR) it will give the glasses a little more feeling. I love the chairs, good texture. Maby a cat lying in the upper left corner on the carpet would fill up that little bit of space, or if you don't want life, maby a shelf with something on it (a vase maby). Hope that helps.
What i wanted to express is that the divide is nearly complete but there is yet hope via the one fragile little bridge. i tried the chandelier but it just made the image too busy and drew the eye away from the rift/bridge. Kind like the cat idea. Will think on it.

Like your idea - and realize it's a WIP - but the lava as it looks in this render doesn't work to me, but i can't see the final work as you do.... Just off top of head - where everything is so precise, neat and clean.... how about just having a jaggedy crack starting across the center of the table forming the divide.... Only other idea that comes to me at the moment is having the end chairs - instead of facing, having each cantered a bit towards opposite directions (i.e. top chair angled more to the viewer's viewpoint - and the bottom chair angled with it's back to us..... Don't feel to comfortable really giving you any sort of suggestions on this - cause i like your idea - and look forward to seeing the completed scene. Nice one. best, hewsan
A slightly more intimate astmosphere, how about something that represents each faction, an item ,i.e. broken string of pearls would represent the female, driving gloves and keys for the male aspect, half eaten meals (an arguement insued?), something organic...just a thought...:) Zhann

I like what hewsan said about everything so neat and clean. I don't think it's the crack however. The concept rings loud and clear, and I like it. It's tough to walk away from a lot of work, but here's a thought: What if it were a table for two. It seems to be about a couple. With the other chairs, I get confused. I wonder if there's a family of 6 now, and if the children are divided equally, and that, IMO, hurts the overall concept. I think a long table, like you see in the movies of really, really rich or eccentric people creates a natural divide on it's own, and I don't think you absolutely need it. My first impression was that it needed a chandelier too. I now see that the reflections are the chandelier. It's subtle, and I didn't pick up on it right away, I like that. But some internal light might be interesting... maybe candles or something. It's a toughie, but it's strong in concept. Good luck with it!
I like the idea, and the execution so far. All the previous suggestions have a lot of merit - especially those of taking away the "extra" chairs, and turning the remaining two away from one another. My thought on something to add would be a document on one side of the table, with the title "Divorce Decree" (or whatever divorce papers might say at the top), then a bunch of legaleese (which you probably wouldn't be able to read, but would be there) then two signature lines - one signed, the other blank, perhaps an uncapped pen lying on the paper. Might be too ... official? Direct? Another thought is, since you don't want actual people in the scene, to make the shadow of two people talking, either fighting or working it out, cast on the floor. My thoughts, anyhoo. Nice work so far. Look forward to seeing the final.
Maybe you could put a classy golden candleholder on the table. (Maybe it has split in two with the table and one half has fallen and is turning a napkin on fire) A few more details on the table would make the scene more complete I think. Maybe a bottle of wine or something. I'm sure you can figure something like that out (My inspiration for this image hass stalled a bit here).

Rayraz, that's what happened to me. I want to thank you all for tossing out some good ideas. I am going to restart this in a couple of days after my subconc ruminates and my mouse arm tendonitis eases a bit. The creative is going again. Thanks sincerely!
