reinstall, you can often find that a reinstall fixes a lot of problems :)

How about deciding for yourself instead of posting a "poll."

Tonight's the night Tonight you're mine, completely You give your soul so sweetly Tonight the light of love is in your eyes But will you love me tomorrow Is this a lasting treasure Or just a moment's pleasure Can I believe the magic in your sights And will you love me tomorrow Tonight with words unspoken You say that I'm the only one But will my heart be broken When the night meets the morning sun I'd like to know if your love Is a love I can be sure of So tell me now and I won't ask again Will you still love me tomorrow Will you still love me tomorrow Will you still love me tomorrow

xoconostle: Because I'm bored..and maybe just wondering if anyone thought I'm nuts for trying to do it...considering the problems with installing in the first place...plus the patch install problems, and so forth...just trying to stir the pot...don't you know.... And ,I really want to know if folks thought it may help me out, or if I'm just wasting a lot of time, that I apparently have lots of :) I'm also a very indecisive person...I'm torn between doing it or not...its like flipping a coin...heads-YES, tails-NO...well, best 2 out of 3....ohhh...best 3 out of 5

I'd do a reinstall, then patch using the individual patch pieces. I've heard some people couldn't use the entire 45MB patch, but applying the application patch, then the figure patch (or vice versa) worked nicely. Personally, I did application, then figure, but I've heard some people had to do it the other way around. Cheers!

I set myself up with a dual boot system. a) Win98 with the CD burner, virus killer, firewall, internet and email, plus some other old apps (inc P4+PP). b) XP Home with just P5. What I'm trying to do is keep P5 free of 'contamination' by other apps dll's and background processes etc, and it seems to work fine for me. PC is a 'home built' P4 2.4 on a Gigabyte GA-81R533 motherboard with 1Gb mem (two Samsung 512Mb DDR bought together). Graphics card is GeForce3 with as supplied drivers (about six months old). Nothing overclocked. I think dual boot is good option, if you have the spare disk space. Cheers Ian

OK, Dave-So. It just seemed to me that you've been unusually active in the P5 discussions, and probably would have had enough experiences and opinions to draw from without starting yet another one of these threads as a "poll" for your own decision. However, I do see that other kind souls are offering their advice. I guess I just posted that because it seems many are "stirring the pot" for no better reason, and as a P4 guy, I regret that so few of the new threads are about rendering or modeling or post-rendering or any of the things that made these forums useful prior to P5 release. The Poser forum is still enjoyable, and there are still valuable threads, but there is much, much, much repetition of the same P5 complaints, anxieties, and paranoid speculation. There's my mini-rant for the day. :-)

xoconostle... I agree with you 110%...and will admit to being one of those constantly "stirring the pot" It would be nice to get back to work, but, alas, I'm not getting much done....not for lack of trying..I have gotten a few images out...but it just seems a bit more tedious...and you have probably read the rest of the story. It may seem I'm just posting away here..but it is actually my relief....there has to be a shoulder to cry on :) I am truly trying to just shut up and work, but when all is trucking along pretty good and another show stopper hits me, well..it just makes me want to post something else....

Nope.......... Buy Lightwave and have some real fun............:)

Poppi ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2002 at 6:28 PM

i vote with wgreenlee....i did not, am not, most likely never will buy p5....i am saving for lightwave. anything i need to do with poser can be done with p4...except render...i like bryce...had it since version 2...it renders well...and, the new bmrt, with hdri shaders are very, very promising, if i could take the time to learn them. poser...i will keep installed for figure setup purposes...that is, until i can afford something special.

Lapis ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2002 at 8:16 PM

Dave So, my program was totally useless before the patch, now its only half useless. Still crashes out of the blue, has trouble finding files, slow rendering, etc. But if I hold me jaw just right, and the sun shines from the right angle, and I hum a few bars from Nightmare before Christmas I can get it to work...sort of...kinda. It is better though for me after the patch if that helps. Good luck on the install. Heed all the other advice to..it seems to be very important.

LOL...and hysterically... Guess what...just had an exception error...went to Save my work..got another exception error..then all was locked up..lost my work, had to ctrl-alt-del.... oh well, all in a pleasant nights use of P5.... guess I need to save just about constantly...every click, then a save...cause you never know.............
