Subject: What is wrong with Poser 5?

I load an obj model into Poser, in bits, then assemble it with heirachy editor and save it as a new figure. Ok so far. Next I then adjust the joints, eg a rotating door, using joint editor. That works okay. BUT, then when I save it to a new figure library and try to reload the prop onto the page, much of the new model has vanished. The only bit left, is the part I wanted to rotate, eg the revolving door. The rest of the prop has dissapeared though Poser still lists it in the figure menu. I've tried setting up the same new prop in Poser 4, and it works fine there. Poser 5 just can't create new props. I've downloaded all the patches, but Poser 5 still won't work properly. Help! Oh, and by the way, the camera view keyboard short cuts still won't work properly either.

why dont you use the setuproom in p5 for doing it. Didnt do much there till now, but what i did worked fine

heyas; did you restart it and load the figure again? when i was trying out the pro pack demo, i had something similar happen. went through, created figure, step by step, just like you're supposed to... loaded the thing and only a few pieces were there. came back later, loaded it again, it was fine. that thing is flaky, man. :) (naw, use the p4 phi file method, now that works the best ;) )

Thanks all. I'm experimenting at the moment, but it's still happening. Funny thing is that new characters created since I added the program patches have worked okay. But props I was working on before the patches are causing problems. I have a theory backed up by observation, that Poser 5 prior to the updates was corrupting any new CR2's.

Did this bug happen after downloading and applying the SECOND patch for Poser 5? I don't want to have to wait for the 3rd or 4th patch before buying Poser 5.

Hi Anthony. I've applied the first patch and I still can't make models, so I'm making them in Poser 4. I tried it with the new set up room, got the bones right, everything worked ok until I tried saving it in a new character gallery for my props. No luck, most of the model had dissapeared again. I think there is still a major bug here, but I can't get any response from Poser tech support. Hey, I didn't know there was a second Poser 5 patch, I could only find one on the Poser site! Will have to look again. And also, the camera keyboard shortcuts still aren't reliable after the patch. Can't get control M for main view most of the time. I reccomend you buy Poser 5 Anthony, at least for the ease of use and there's less chance of going blind trying to see the badly designed interface of P4! You can still make models in P4 AND the CR2's transfer well into P5. The only difference is that P5 uses a 'png' file to display the thumbnail, and this replaces the 'rsr' BUT that thumbnail dissapears if you try and transfer CR2 files back to P4. I have a nasty feeling there are going to be a lot of patches for P5.

I've checked and there isn't a second patch for P5. I've only downloaded service release 1, and that's the one that still won't solve my problem. There's also something wrong with Poser tech support, 'cos if I send them a message it comes straight back to me by e mail! All very wierd.
