HI, may I suggest poser4/propac Its very stable it has all the tools you need for animating REALISTC styled humans and animals if you are willing to learn to use its powerful Graph editor. Cloth and HAIR/Fur are the latest holy grails but they have never made anyone a great animator and poser5's basic animation tools have NOT changed from poser4 frankly. and if you want higher end features/effects for realistic renders Get the propac and save for a REAL Cg application to host you poser animation such as Cinema 4DXL or Lightwave 3D or even VUE. -wolf359 founding member of "the 12 animators"-
There is a program that can export poser animations into Bryce, but it does them a frame at a time using obj format and it can take forever, look at it in the wrong tone of voice and it'll sulk for weeks, Bryce that it. It's a great program (Natural Pose) but I wish there was a proper plugin for Bryce like for cinema/max etc.
"Someone please write one :)" Can't without violating CL's intellectual property rights. There's several companies that would like to do that but they would have to pay a royalty on every copy sold, even if the buyer doesn't use Poser. I'd guess that's why CL had to write the plugs for the big 3 modelers, cause they'd never agree to pay for it! Best - Dan
I hate standing in lines but I would to get the program raz mentioned. Can't wait 'til it's out. I don't want to start a "Vue vs Bryce" debate but, if you spend a lot of time trying to get Poser scenes into Bryce, the "sidegrade" cost of Vue4 would be more than worth your while...if you value your time. ....and Vue is better anyway. (ducks and runs)
"Animation Magazine has announced this year's winners of their "Golden Pixie Awards" and messiah:studio tops the list as winner of the "Gutsy Pixie." Says Animation Magazine's Peter Plantec, "...I almost missed it because my jaded brain couldn't stand to look at one more 3D package, this one makes one hell of an entry into the market. It's a product that is uniquely useful, well thought out, and does some 3D things better than any other." And he continues, "Although it may seem hard to believe, many aspects of character animation are easier in messiah than in either Maya, Max, or SI unplugged." http://www.animationmagazine.net/ No bugs? Hrrm. Pretty close and definitely getting there. http://www.projectmessiah.com/ Or, for those looking for a bit more in their package http://www.maxon.net/ virtually bug free. It animates, it renders, it models. What more could you want? What do you mean you wanted dirt cheap?
I like bugs myself, keeps folks on there toes, who needs perfection, not me, nope; it's fun trying to figure out all the in's and out's and things, makes the stuff more interesting, and sometimes they even throw in easter egg's if your lucky...woohoo! More challenging this way; doesn't anyone around here appreciate the value of a great challenge??...huh?? Just think, if you can work this baby with all it's bugs, imagine what you'll do with the final perfection!! Just imagine...just imagine! It's like your actually in control, re-training the software for your needs! ;-)
