Hi gang, I thought I'd take advantage of the generosity of criticism going aroung and ask for people to see what I could do to improve this wip I have going. Thanks!

Not wrong, but! You could apply an image to a flat plain above the pool out of camera view. The water could reflect this scene from another place to make the pool a looking glass pool. A cat with a spotlight off camera so just the shadow hits the room wall. Each would add mystery to your mysterious room.

Suggestions- - make a bigger more complex pediment for the collumns. - add a footing around the base of the wall - decrese the texture size on the walls - add some form of door frame about the entrance - work in a bit more detail about the central pool's sides. - dim the lighting and use more sources, mood! - I like the water, but the mist is not working for me. - I like the cat sculptures Good idea overall, please keep at it, has much promise!

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

maybe you could add plants to the room, creepers going up the collumns, ferns, that sort of thing, and more vegetation and some rocks outside. I definitely agree with the lighting suggestions, too, the word "grotto" just seems to suggest dim, moody lighting and mysterious things lurking in the shadows.

i like it but what i'd do is maby add steam or mist rising from the water the cat is hard to see mayby you could add light to it to show some texture and have the cat cast a shadow

oh i forgot one thing the moon add a surface to it but all in all great work

They don't know what they are talkign about, looks great to me. hehe. JUST KIDDING. It is a work in progress, right? I would have to say more texture to the surfaces, UNLESS, you are going for the smooth and shinny. Needs some shadows, also. A couple of torches on the walls with a low intensity on spherical lights would do nicely.

Because I like to blow $%&# up.

mboncher, for a moon, find the evil dr ganymede's site and follow the links (for non-commercial stuff). use the luna texture, map to a sphere reotate it so you see the right face - there you go! moon! two other things: textures! shadows! I've got to start doing some closeups too! It looks very nice with the above exceptions. - TJ

The camera angle doen't work for me, and for some reason the perspective looks off (columns leaning forward), shadowing of some kind on the floors and walls, and a more textured floor, or a muted mosaic floor (tiny promo), love the cat statues, and yes, the moon needs some character...:) Zhann

mboncher, I was in a hurry to do something before sorry about that - but yes I agree with Zhann, The FOV is too extreme for the camera angle or visa versa. You may want to change one or the other or both. BTW I like the Idea of a fisheye view but they are very hard to pull off as they repulse many people and many others eyes simply don't make the visual reference. A highly textured image might help to pull it off - I don't know. keep at it, - TJ

Looks good now. Looks like the pool and cats are the main focus. I would remove all the lights outside the pool and replace them with candles or cat candlebra or cat candles. Place the lights either on the edge of the pool or on the floor. Make the outside scene darker so it does not fight the foreground for attention. Raise the ambient and or the reflectance? of the mist to make it more visible. More shadows and darkness would add to the mystery.

For the mist check out the link, it's a mini tut by pidjy, the steam corresponds to the mist over the pool to make it more realistic....
