Subject: Poser 4 characters in Poser 5

This must be a stupid question but I can't seem to get older Cr2 characters to load using poser 5? How does one convert the .CR2 extension into a .CRZ extension. All the poser 4 characters in the Poser 5 libraries have crz extensions while the poser 4 package had cr2 extensions.

crz is a compresed cr2 file. it has to be uncompresed to work in P4 Laters Vel

I'm sorry, but I want to do the opposite. I have a CR2 file which I want to load in Poser 5. I tried zipping the file and renaming it to a crz instead of a zip extension but it wouldn't load. Is there a special zip package to use?

You shouldn't have to do anything to it - my older cr2's work just fine in P5. Have you dropped them into the proper place in the Runtime directory? THey should go into their own subfolder under Runtime/Libraries/Character/ Hope this helps! --Donnie

It still doesn't work. Here's what I did: 1)created folder in Poser 5 runtime/Libraries/character/Poser 4 Teen 2) In the "Poser 4 Teen" folder, I put files "Teenager.cr2" and Teenager.RSR. These files are available in Renderosity freestuff 3) Now in Poser 5, the folder appears in the Library/figures and the thumbnail appears when selecting "Poser 4 Teen." 4) After selecting and hitting "add new figure," nothing happens. Thanks for your help.

Not having P5, I could be way off base here, but is the CR2 looking for a non-existent geometry file? AFAIK, the OBJ file needs to be in a specific place for the CR2 to find it.

Attached Link: Linking your P4 Runtime to P5

Tano, instead of moving P4 files into P5, you can link the P4 runtime folder into p5. That way you don't have to move anything (well, you may have some trouble finding some textures if the pathnames are absolute and are wrong). See the link above on instructions on how to do it.

That's great. Where did you learn how to do that! Many thanks. And thanks for the link to those tutorials. There's so much to learn that's not in the manual. Let me know when you write a tutorial on the material room. I've about given up on that room.

Tano, Traveller is writing tutorials for the Material room. I never can remember his url right offhand-- 3DMorphworld??? Any rate, he has one or two done already-- you might want to search here on Trav cause he links to them. Emily

Um, out of curiosity, do you have the appropriate geometry loaded into the geometries directory as well?
