Subject: hdri question

I been reading through some past post on faking hdri. I have a problem though, how do i do get it to where i have an object sitting on a table or floor or somthing, i just cant get it to look right. all i can do is floating spheres. heres my first try at it.

Looks like a camera position. If I read correctly from the previous posts, put the camera in your textured open sphere pointing outward and build your scene at the edge of the opening.

here is another one i did with a teapot i imported from 3ds max. i originally tried a wood texture for the table top, but it didnt work. so i used a glass material instead.how do i get the wood texture to show?

You should be able to use a wood texture and just up the reflection on it.
