Subject: Moving Poser 4

Peggy_Walters ( ) posted Thu, 21 November 2002 at 9:54 AM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 9:17 PM

I have Poser 4 and Pro pack installed on my C drive and Poser 5 on my D drive. C drive is getting way to full and I want to un-install Poser 4 and re-install it on the D drive. The only reason I need to keep Poser 4 on my system is for the inport feature to Vue (if there is a way to make Poser 5 work with Vue, that would be great). What problems will I encounter? Do I have to re-install Poser 5 after Poser 4 or is it better to un-install Poser 5 then re-install it after Poser 4? I don't plan on keeping my old Poser 4 runtime directory. I had a link to the Poser 4 runtime directory, but since the path will move, will the re-install work (i.e. is this a system registry setting?). Thanks! Peggy

Since Poser 4 didn't require a confirmation code after installation, I would imagine you'd be fine to reinstall on the same drive as 5. The only thing I've heard is that you can't actually run the two at the same time.

Just moved mine from one drive to another using an XP OS via the windows explorer and had absolutely no regedit needed - but your desktop and programs listing (assuming windows since you have p5) shortcuts will have to be changed. Just right click on link then left click on properties and change from c: to d: and save. All textures, figures, mover, cr2edit, etc. works. If you need some help - will be happy to accomodate - contact me at jerri@cruzanware.com - will be on all day and know win95 thru xp pro very well (my living is programmer so stuck knowing all this nonsense!).

I think you have to reinstall Poser 5 if you install Poser 4 again. Otherwise patches won't find it. Don't think you have to UNinstall Poser 5 though.

No need to reinstall poser you could simply move teh files works fine. You may want to copy poset to d drive and then uninstall teh copy on c dirive
