Subject: Bishop and Starr Textures???

MachineClaw ( ) posted Sun, 01 December 2002 at 8:48 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 1:46 PM

http://www.kindredx.net/pages/art/index.htm This site has two textures that were available at one time Bishop for Mike, and Starr for Vicki. Does anybody know where I can grab these from? The url has said that due to bandwidth they aren't available, but I can't find them in any free stuff or anyplace else. Anybody have any ideas? BTW anybody know of any other high quality textures that CAN be used for commercial use? Seems like all the great free ones are not for commercial use no way no how, any body know of any (mike, vicki, steph, whatever). Thanks.

Post a message to alt.binaries.3d.poser on usenet, asking about the textures, with ATTN:bishop in the title. The kindredx.net website is his so he should be able to help you out.

I was wondering and dont take it in the wrong way. Because you asked about free high rez textures for commercial use. This would mean you or some one is getting paid for it. Why would you not want to buy a good high quality textures. I have seen them here for as low as $5 - $10. and over at Daz's in the platnum club $1.99 thats hardly a big expenditure to put out for good quality . I have myself asked and been givin permission to use non commercial items in my prodjects .

I will not use any free item that specifically says that I can not use it for commercial use. I wouldn't want to find myself in a position where someone wanted to use some of my artwork for something, CD, poster, etc. then remember that the item or texture that I used couldnt be used for commercial use. I have yet to see textures that I would pay for. I agree that there is some fine stuff out there that can be purchased, however I find that a lot of it looks very much like the next thing. I have hovered above the purchase button on several items on my to buy list, just haven't gone there yet. I certainly believe in giving something back if ya make use and get payed, either by telling the original creator of an item that you used it, or even shooting them some money off the top and saying thanks. but if an item says not for commercial use, then I don't even touch it. Hence my question about where some could be found. Sorry if it seems I'm defending myself, just wanted to be clear, I'm not trying to jipp someone out of credit or money.

I didnt think you were and i wasnt sure if you had seen some of the nice texture for sale here. Dont get me wrong there are also so so ones as well and its hard to tell. I personaly would highly recomend the merchant Dark Whisper but that depends on what your trying to make . Blackhearted has some great ones as well.

Have you looked at any of the high-end textures at Mec4d.com or at SteffyZZ's (URL provided)? They go for between $25 and $40 for the most part. A search here in the Marketplace brought up 20 pages of Vicki texs and 8 of Michaels, most of which are under $25 and can be used commercially. Many of them are very close in quality to the ones I listed first. Sydd Raven at RDNA makes beautiful texs too, at very reasonable prices. Textures are one thing we're not short of in this community. I own ones by at least half a dozen artists that come with full rights. If you're looking to possibly sell your work, I'd go for the best you can afford and consider the price well worth the absence of hassles later ;)

Poserstyle has several Mike and Vicky textures among their downloads. For 30 bucks you can get them all plus all the other killer stuff they have. They textures are pretty sharp too.

Ive been looking at zs3d.com textures, bit pricy but damn they are nice. and I'm about to get a poserstyle membership it does seem worth it. However, the original question stands, haha, free for commercial high quality textures can they be found. I guess from the couple of posts that I'm searchin for a ghost that doesnt exist.

Did you check all of the free area ? If you found one you liked you can always email the creator and ask. Runtime DNA has some freebies but I do not know about the licence status. Your probley looing for a needle in a haystack . Little Dragon can probley help you .

Thanks for all the help, I've now found a couple of great textures to use, and a lot of places that I didn't even know existed. Again, thanks for all the input.
