Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
a better idea- if i knew how to program- i would do this myself- but is there a way someone could program a plug in for reg Poser4 to separate the mat poses from the regular pose directory? Or if there is such an animal already- where could one find//purchase it? thx! /grumble on- always did hate mat poses ;P /grumble off
Blues - What I do is combine as much as I can and move the mat files to the camera folder (rename them .cm2) and the mor files to the face folder (rename them .fc2) and combine poses that are similar. (Actually I combine everything that's similar. I have 1 Vicki mor folder, 1 steph mor folder, 1 mike...etc so on and so forth. All of my MAT's are the same, I have 1 folder for each designer of clothing. (I.E. 1 ISOP folder, 1 RDNA folder, etc) I find this is easier not only for organizing, but remembering where everything is located. AS for the poses, what I do is combine similar types. Vicki Standing, Vicki Sitting, Vicki Dancing, Posette Standing, Posette Sitting, so on and so forth. Yes, there's a method to my madness, but with a 16+ gig runtime folder...you have to be mad in the first place LOL

That's what I do (and a lot of other people that I know) we just move the files around within the library folders to where we keep them. Umm...You really don't need to create any new folders (as P4 has to have everything within the folder it designates for whatever type of file)

If you've crossed the 250 folder limit, it's unlikely that you'll need access to all that stuff in any given week. :-) Another technique would be to create a folder outside of Runtime. I call mine "x_Runtime" for no better reason...it resides in the Poser 4 directory. Within it are subdirectories named "x_character," "x_poses," etc. I move rarely-used objects there for storage. Not only does this make browsing through the Poses library much faster, it actually speeds up Poser's general response time.

I had this problem before I switched to P5 (now I have a whole lot of new problems ;-). Anyway, I tried PBooost by Hogwarden and it helped a LOT. Check out the product description and see if it would help your problem. It also has Deep File Editor, which is very helpful in locating textures, bumps and transparencies if I recall correctly.I have P4, P4 propack, installed. In Propack it sometimes doesn't recognise a JPEG bump map. When this happens I go to P4 use the default figure, go to materials, go to bump mat, hit load, go to the texture folder in propack, load the JPEG and convert it to a bump. Then go back to Propack problem solved. Does this mean I can draw files from either program?
One thing to know with PBooost....download the demo checker first. And check how your disk is formatted. If your hard disk is formatted FAT32, PBooost will not work on the fly. Meaning that it is designed to let you switch banks while Poser is running; something about FAT32 file system won't let you do that. So if you're like me, have PBooost and don't want to change your disk format, you can still move stuff into different folders in PBooost, but you will need Poser closed to switch banks.

It's in the Marketplace.oops beenn out for a few hours so missed the reply, like Djeser says it's in the marketplace & howard (hogwarden) is working on updating it to work properly with Poser5 right now. version 1.3 is in the marketplace at the moment, version 1.4 will probably be a free upgrade to anyone who's already bought it.
just wait till you see version 1.4 :) I'm helping to test it for howard. It can now open & save compressed poser5 files, CorrectReference is now more closely integrated with PBooost. You still need to download them seperately but you can access it from PBooost. CR doesn't do compressed files yet although howard did mention CR pro in a thread at PoserPros so maybe we'll have that soon too. Cheryle you can use P3doExplorer & plugins to convert png's to rsr, it should be in the freestuff here. Grab a copy of CorrectReference & you can change the Mats so they all look for jpg's instead.
I've become somewhat lost in the area of organizing my Poser files. I'm currently running Poser 5 and I've downloaded tons of pose and prop files from various places and now my Poser files are a huge pile of folders and I'm pretty sure alot of them are in the wrong places. For example I have in my Pose folder files that look like they should be in the materials folder.
Is there a definitive way to ulitmately organize all your Poser files and also make them easy to find? Has someone invented an instant organizer program yet?
For example, is there a way to see ALL the available poses in the pose library instead of searching through folder after folder for the one you want? Like a big page of thumbnails?
I really want to make my Poser5 as efficient as possible because I plan to use it to create digital storyboards and I need to find a particular pose fast.

I'm sure this problem has been addressed here, but darned if I can find it. Has anyone had a problem where they can't get the mat/pose files to come up? Is it possible to have too many that Poser 4/Pro Pack can't locate them? The only way I can get them to come up is to do it manually and as you all know that is tedious as hell. Please tell me what I need to do to fix this....btw, I have a LOT of files on here.
