I have found with erratic problems like this you want to run the system monitor and log cpu , memory swapping, disk I/O. Then run the program and if it appears to lock up (no error messages) leave it for at last 5 minutes, then cancel out of it (CTL-ALT-DEL) and look at the system monitor log. This will tell if the system itself stopped (no cpu) or if it was very busy with memory swapping or disk I/O. In some situations you get in a position where the system is doing very little but memory swapping. There are a few utilities that will help find a memory leak (application finishes with memory block but does not correctly release it). hope this helps.
Thread: Why do I have Black tips on my ears? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It looks to me like a shadow problem. Try using the face camera to look really closely at the ear, see if there is anything nearby (hair) which may be shadowing it. You could remove the hair or select it and pick the option for the object to NOT cast shadows) Then re-render. The other possibility (and I do not know if it applies to poser - is that the texture map for the head is not completely mapping to the ears. This happens in another package I have if you alter the geometry by applying morphs. Great looking character.
Thread: IK bugs affecting movie making | Forum: Animation
In my experiance anytime you animate a limb with IK and have the joint nearly straight you wind up with a problem in the software determining wich way to bend the joint. Is it an option to scale the gun slightly smaller ? Keeping the elbow slightly bent may help your problem. Another way is to add keyframes where the problem occurs to 'help' the software pick the solution you want.

condolences to the family. If the man was ill and refused to see a doctor, well that was his choice, he may have had reasons unknown to anyone else. But it is rough on the survivors. Re: products in store and Paypal. Any assetts become part of his estate. The appointed executor has the responsibility of identifying those assetts and ensuring the collection and distribution of them to his heirs (if any). If he kept reasonable records all bank accounts, insurance policies etc are fairly readily identified. The best action to take (in my opinion) is NOT to make changes, particularly since he can't authorise them. By all means the people who administer the store should perhaps ensure account information is made available TO THE EXECUTOR AFTER PROPER IDENTIFICATION. I am sure that the store operators are able to get good legal advice on the contract issues. There is no reason why his products could not continue to be sold - as long as they are inherited by someone. They do NOT become public domain in any case for some years after death - I don't know the time for this type of product.
Thread: Freestuff... contact? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Off topic: from previous post For your information - Renderosity Moderators. Renderosity was down for a short while yesterday Friday, June 18 with an error indicating no available connections. This should have been highlighted in your daily server reports - whoever gets them. It seemed to clear up after about 30 minutes. regards
Thread: Looking for Move Magnets script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Hi, If you just want to change the parent can't you just move them in the heirarchy editor. Or are you trying to automate something ? I will have a look at doing a script. regards
Thread: Poser Python Wish List | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Hi, turn off shadow for all actors of a figure. I will look at that, I have a script that cycles through all body parts for transparency. Regards.
Thread: Poser Python Wish List | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
I have a Visual basic program that will change the CR2 file but you can do that with a text editor.
try the attached zip file scripts.
one displays all items that are parented to the head. This is a no risk script to check that only the hair is selected.
the other script actually changes the parenting.
I have tested this in Poser5 SR4 and it appears to work correctly, but not tested with multiple hair groups.
Do not delete your original file before saving and testing the new hair prop.
regards
Thread: Animation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you need to join animations rather than splice the avi files try this. Having the end-frame of one sequence and the start-frame of the next sequence adjacent is going to give you trouble unless the poses are identical. Spline interpolation between keyframes messes things up. Set them a few frames apart (maybe 10) and see what happens. You can set and delete keyframes to smooth out the movements.
Thread: Looking for Move Magnets script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
I just posted a script in the python wishlist forum. It is set up to reparent hair from the head to a prop skullcap. You should be able to chage it to move the magnets BUT I don't know if there will be a change of position when you change the parenting. message me if you need anything further, like help with the script. regards
Thread: Zeroing dials - can Python do it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Essentially yes. The scale, rotation and translation dials are all accessible. There is a python script that generates a list of all available parameters for each body part of a figure. I don't remember where I saw it though. There are also a couple of scripts for identifying dials that are zeroed. If you can't find one drop me a message and I will send you one. regards
Thread: Smaller PZ3 files? Not just PZZ ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think whats he's getting at is WHY is a scene (pz3 file with one charachter and a few small props 16 meg on disk. I had originally assumed that the scene file consisted of pointers to the character and prop files, with a little info stored like location, joint settings and morph settings. Fortunatly saving the pz3 in compressed form, pzz Poser5 squishes them down considerably. regards

Thread: Disappeared Document window | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have had a similar problem with poser5. If you start poser at less than 1024 x 768 sometimes a window, in my case the UI buttons winds up outside the screen area and there seems to be no way to get it back. The message you got is poser warning you your screen resolution is too low. If you can start poser at the highest screen resolution available.
Thread: Offending freestuff??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It would be nice to have a freestuff area open ONLY to adult members for the R and X rated sort of props. But realistically you would then need to move a huge number of items and enforce a kid friendly rule of no tits, ass genitalia , weapons, axes, whips, chains, etc. The ball gag is less offensive than some of the ring gags posted elsewhere. And then you get tentacles, man that is sick, and dog p**** props. If you surf the web at work , personal responsability says avoid actions that will get you fired.
