If you are talking Pro-Pack, I can't help you, 'cuz I only have Poser 4.03...If you are Poser4, however... If the parts are named in the standard Poser naming format, you just have to go into the hierarchy editor and tell it to "Apply Standard Hierarchy", "Apply Standard Rotation", then, I believe, "make Figure". That should be followed by you opening the joint editor, and adjusting your joints ad nauseum. You then colorize it to your satisfaction & save it to your libraries... Personally, when I do it, I create & scale the figure in my 3D modeller of choice (LightWave 7.5). Then I group the parts & name them to match Poser requirements, and export it as an .obj. I then change a cr2 file (that has the same named parts) over for the figure in a text editor & put it in libraries. I then open Poser, find that new entry, double click on it & PRAY. If it opens successfully, you adjust the joints, then re-save it to the library. Hope I wasn't TOO windy or confusing... :D Let me know if this helps...

Go into the Hierarchy Editor & double click on the Figure 1 name. It should highlight. Then Type in your name of choice & hit enter or return. That should do it...

'Oh great, I never really thought about that! I guess we'll see. I haven't ever tried that swtiching geometry thing, guess it might work, I'll give it a shot.' Lemurtek I'm trying the switching geometry thing now, and even with tips from PhilC, it's still quite challenging. If I figure it out on my end, I'll let you know....
Thread: .PHI Arrangement Question??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, If you hear mad screams from the East coast...It's probably me, LOL. I just want to absorb as much as I can. I have some moderately ambitious plans for my characters (Detailed human transforms into werecat), & it'll go a lot easier this way... Tho' I may be bald by then :D... I'm gonna see if I can order your CD, as well... As before, thanks again for the help... :)

PhilC, Thank you. I'll try that tonight. One other question, though...Should I be concerned with the objFile number or the GetStringRes number? Do I have to change them in any particular way? That was one of the things that were bugging me last night.

Looks nice! Also looks like he's excited about SOMETHING! (Note the tail...) If I may suggest something... You might help him by tweaking the shape of the head a bit. It looks a bit too round from this perspective. It might also make it look more masculine(?). I can't wait to see him done in P5 with the hair tool....

devongrrl, I don't know if this helps any, but you can hide the artsy interface in Poser 4 by typing in 'po2' (minus the quotes, of course). This will put you back into Poser 2's much plainer interface...I found out about this 'Easter Egg' from an issue of the now-defunct magazine '3D Artist'...
Thread: Essential freeware utility for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
An extension of what TalmidBen said: Perhaps something that would look at the .obj & figure the best joint setup for the parts, with some help from the user... Basically the conforming clothes are figures themselves, so it's the same thing. Anything that helps with joint setup on custom figs would be appreciated by this weary modeller... :D

"The manual isn't exactly the best way to learn how to get the most out of poser, asking questions at forums like this will help you more than the manual." I would tend to agree. For one thing, the Poser 4 manual wasn't adequately proofread... I went thru the custom figure tutorial w/ RayDream & got up to importing the .phi file...It couldn't find the geometry to match node. I went nutso checking the parts & parts names... The culprit was the part of the first line: objFile :Runtime:Geometries..... They typed it this way in the manual... objFile:Runtime:Geometries..... All that aside, CL needs to work on the whole UI a bit. I'm an artist so I think it's not too bad. I use Lightwave, which is as intuitive or more so, IMHO.
