The new Topaz filter "Impressions" might do what you want.I’ve been playing with the demo and the results don’t look too bad (less gimmicky) to me.
Being a bit spoiled I still prefer Corel Painter.

Hey martial
The Photoshop format PSD is not native to ios so that’s why you’re running into a brick wall.
The native image formats that ios recognizes are, Jpeg, PNG, Tiff and Gif.
However you can open a PSD with a few apps using cloud services as a work around.
For instant, Photoshop Touch will open (but flatten and convert) a PSD file that has been uploaded to Adobes Creative Cloud.
Procreate will open a PSD from Dropbox (using the clipboard), but to save as PSD you must send the file back to Dropbox, (you can save it as a Jpeg or PNG to your device).
A real pain, and since the apps convert the PSD for their use anyway, you lose any advantage you might think you were getting.
Instead, just convert your PSD’s in Photoshop to either high quality Jpeg’s or PNG’s (which has lossless compression) and all your apps will be happy.

I use it to get a base head mesh shaped from photos I have, then to Zbush for high detailed sculpting.
Does a decent job.

Tom,
You need to be using an “Aero Theme” to see the thumbnails.
Right click on an empty space on your desktop and select “Personalize”, then select any of the Aero Themes and customize from there (wallpaper..etc.).
Whatever work/service you had done, probably reset your desktop to a Standard Theme.

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool then hit delete.
For more precision choose the “Fixed Size” style (found up in the tool bar) and use the ruler (Crtl+R).
Shift+click on the ruler to pull out guides to aide in your alignment.

Hey Tom,
You really didn’t even need to install LR3 as all that is required is the LR3 serial number when installing LR4.
So no problem taking LR3 off your box.

I do a lot of scanning of my pencil/ink sketches.I always scan in “color” mode as that seems to do a better job on the different shades of gray as opposed to “grayscale” mode (for whatever reason I don’t know…I just don’t question what works).
Then for eliminating the background, I found the simple “Ready2Color” action works better than anything else I’ve tried (link).

I’m on CS5.5, but should be the same.
Go to View>Show> (and click on) 3D Axis.
Very easy to hit the small “x” on the 3d tools which closes it.
