Thread: ISO: the differences | Forum: Photography
any time i've increased the ISO for night shooting it produced too much noise. i've tried using those noise reduction programs but they tend to "blob" even the parts with no noise. your best bet is to do longer exposures with the lowest ISO possible, that's what i do anyway... EB

by no means an art photographer but still inspiring non the less. James Nachtwey has been a war photojournalist for over 20 years and covered most if not all the conflicts in his time. through his lens he shares the truth.Thread: May challenge 1: | Forum: Photography

to be honest, i can't remember if i had my skylight filter on or not. i don't think i did but there's a good chance. a polarizing filter is on my shopping list, well when i get some cash that is... is that what i need to get the skys to turn out well, without getting burnt like above? i couldn't find a happy medium, when i underexposed it brought out the sky but then all the details in the darker areas were gone.

Thread: First attempt at B/W Conversion...suggestions? | Forum: Photography
the b/w looks awesome!!! if you play with the sliders a bit in the channel mixer you'd be surprised what the differences will be. for mine i usually use the start with the following r 65 g 35-45 (personal prefrences will do) b 2 constant +2-+4 i constantly play with the r and g slider to get the right tones, again those settings above are just a starting point, final adjustments go from there. also i convert to lab color and play with the light and dark channels but this will alter the color version by giving it a greenish tint, i only do this when i know the shot is going to be b/w. hope this is of assistance!! upgrade sucessful, works like a charm! wow, very cool new U.I. kind of flashy. i don't know if it's because tonight i was in a well lit area for a change, but it seemed to focus a lot quicker. oh and nice now that i can see 43 exposures with my 256mb card!!! worth the upgrade!!! eb
