Hi Kiwi, older and a lot more tired but I'm still hanging in there.
I have a silly question but I need help. How in the world do I get to just the Bryce gallery? I tried searching for Bryce and I get very old Bryce images and images made in other programs with the word 'Bryce' in the title. I was in the Bryce gallery the other day but can't remember how I got there...ugh. I'll link it next time.
Second line down on the top of the home page, click on: Galleries > Sections > Bryce
That gives you the Bryce images only, latest shown first.
Thread: Anyone still using Bryce? | Forum: Bryce
I still use Bryce, but yes, it's a bit quiet here. All the Bryce art gets posed in the galleries. Perhaps we should start a "show us you renders" thread? Let's see what TheBryster says!

Martial, I'm afraid I've deleted the download that contained my trial version of Creator, and I don't remember whether that included a key or not. If you don't get an answer from Bentley support in the next day or so, all I can suggest is to try their sales contact page instead:
https://info.e-onsoftware.com/sales-support
Tell them you're interested in buying and have the trial version but it's not working. Ask them if you need a key. They are salesmen so with any luck they will give the support department a hard time until they answer you!

Martial, contact their support. Support is provided by Bentley Software. You can use this link on e-on software's site:
https://info.e-onsoftware.com/support?hsCtaTracking=15741fb1-4694-44ae-b37d-7a6f9cd72b01%7C309f1699-5a3e-47f5-9791-d35260469946
to describe your problem. I had similar problems with licence keys not working and having 0 days on my paid-for versions of Vue, and their support was pretty good, but you do need to describe the issue in detail. They did get back to me pretty quickly on most the issues I raised, and apart from the graphics card issue, the problems were all satisfactorily resolved. If you didn't receive a licence key for the trial version you probably need one, and they have forgotten to send it. If you did get one, it may be out of date or the wrong one for your version, so get onto them and they will give you some help.

I had the new version of the artists' Vue (now called Vue Creator) in the first year it came out, and that does come as a package with plant factory. The UI has been changed quite a bit, and I personally found it slower to use and less intuitive. Renders are a little bit faster, but I had trouble using the preview render as it was optimised for newer software than is on my graphics card, and updating the card caused problems with my older applications such as Vue 10 and Bryce, so I had to back the updates out. I think the price for Creator and Plant Factory together is good, but I don't know whether you get Plant Factory if you opt for Infinite. I did not renew at the end of the first year, mainly because of the graphics card problems. I would recommend getting the software on a 30 day trial, if they are still offering that option, before you decide.

Judy nails it!
I hope it's all correct! I'm a southpaw and when I worked in IT I was famous for getting my right and left mixed up in instructions, which caused users no end of confusion. I did get into the habit of double-checking, fortunately, so it should be OK. Fingers crossed....

I can save scene files, but I want to save as OBP objects .
OK - this is for Bryce 7 but it's much the same for Bryce 5.
Put your object in the scene, and select it.
Click on the arrow (a little triangle) to the right of the "Create" option at top left of the Bryce window.
The Object Presets Library and its contents will be displayed in the middle of the Bryce window.
Select the category that you want to store the OBP under by selecting it from the list shown on the left side of the OBP Library pane.
When you select your category, any OBPs already saved under that category will be displayed. Black squares are also shown - these are empty storage points.
Click on one of the black squares to select it. Your new OBP will be placed there.
Click on "Add" at the bottom left of the OBP Library pane.
A box will come up for you to enter the name of the object, and optionally its description. You can over-type the default name that Bryce gives the OBP.
Click on the the tickmark just below the description box when you have finished typing, and the new OBP will be stored, and will appear in the OBP Library.
To add your saved OBP to a scene, find it in the OBP Library, click on its image, and click on the tickmark.
Hope this helps.
Thread: importing daz | Forum: Bryce
Hi, I don't use Daz Studio but if you have a look at the forums over at DAZ3d, the consensus seems to be that (for Bryce to DAZ) you should export your Bryce 7 content as an OBJ and import that into DS. f you really want to use the DS bridge, then the advice from those forums is to use DS version 3 and not the latest version. For DAZ to Bryce, have a look at this
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/pub/tutorials/bryce/bryce-import01
That is for DS2 but the method will probably not have changed much in DS3. I'm sorry that I can't be of any more help.
Thread: importing Zbrush obj into Bryce for rendering | Forum: Bryce
Hello, if you haven't tried this already, have a go at altering the mapping mode in Bryce.
In Bryce, select the cube you've shown
Click on the M on the menu that shows up beside the cube. This takes you to the MAT lab
You'll see the material preview in the image at top left of the MAT lab, and this will alter as you adjust the mapping
At top right of the display there are 3 little images showing colour, value and bump previews. Below these is a drop-down arrow. Click this to get a list of mapping modes.
The mode will probably be set to Parametric as default
Try changing to some of the other modes, such as Object Top or Object Space, and see what happens. Try the mapping modifier Scale Pict Size on top of each of these as well and see if that helps.
You can also nudge, rotate and scale textures using the Edit Texture tool (click top left button above the right-hand pane in the MAT lab display).
I think it's worth giving the above a try, but to be honest I'm not optimistic. I've never tried to do this sort of thing in Bryce, and I think that the UV mapping may simply override what you try to do with the native mapping modes.
Another thing you could think about is putting your OBJ through a half-way house application that is more of an age match with Bryce - Hexagon springs to mind. Hexagon is free to download if you sign up to the DAZ3d website. It has been updated a fair bit recently but has its own UV mapping that Bryce is more likely to understand. You can adjust the UVs in Hexagon if necessary, although its mapping tools are very simple compared to Zbrush.
Thread: importing Zbrush obj into Bryce for rendering | Forum: Bryce
Hi, I'm afraid know nothing about Zbrush but I do remember seeing a post about this over at DAZ a while back, so here it is: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/363291/importing-models-with-texture-from-zbrush
This may help, I hope it does. Bryce is pretty old and there could be things coming over from Zbrush in the obj that it doesn't understand. If the post doesn't help, try posting an image here showing exactly what's going wrong with the mapping.
Thread: are there any stores that sell new vue scenes? | Forum: Vue
estherau posted at 3:23AM Wed, 07 October 2020 - #4401116
thanks for all that info. weird. so if i did buy the new subscription vue i couldn't get my premede scenes?
I was trying to make snow mountains for an aeroplane to fly through, but with jungle in the low altitude places. I just couldn't get my own or modified bought scenes looking good. One of the problems with my bought scenes is they often aren't 360* but only look okay from one angle. and sometimes I need to make an HDRI dome for use in poser. Love esther
There are certainly less sources around for Vue scenes now than there were when the Cornucopia store was open. Getting complex scenes, especially with ecosystems, to look good from many angles is a huge user of computer resources, and if you just want to use the scenes as backgrounds for your comic strips, without any animation, you might be better off producing several versions of the scenes that you do have, rendered at different angles with the ecosystem mapping and the lighting adjusted accordingly, and gradually build yourself a library of re-usable scenes. With a different set of materials and plants, a saved snowy mountain scene could easily be turned into a mountain jungle scene, etc. You can also usually get away with using mats on distant objects instead of plant ecosystems, which reduces the render times. I would recommend having a look at the Vue tutorials on GeekAtPlay and on Gary miller's You Tube page; there are a lot of free tutorials.
If you are thinking of getting the new Vue on subscription, see if you can get it on trial first. Vue Creator, which I tried for a year, has a substantially different interface from Vue 10 and Vue 2016, which I had been using, and I found it less intuitive and more time-consuming to use. I also had trouble with the preview rendering, which turned out to be due to some of the settings on my graphics card. Updating these caused problems with the older versions of Vue and other software I was still using, so I didn't renew my subscription this year. That said, getting Vue plus Plant Factory for the price E-on Software are showing now seems very good, but you do need to try it out first. Hope this helps.
Thread: are there any stores that sell new vue scenes? | Forum: Vue
Gary Miller's Geek At Play site is still selling Vue tutorials here: https://www.geekatplay.com/vue-tutorials.php If you buy a landscape tutorial you get the scene as well in the Bonus Pack, and at a quick glance, there are about 18 landscape tutorials on the page. They are not cheap, though. If you are looking for content, Martin Frost who sold on Cornucopia is now selling on Daz3D, mostly plants (I can recommend these) but some other items too. Other sellers on Daz are offering a few scenes and terrains, and Turbosquid has 16 pages of Vue-compatible models such as buildings, ships, static plants, etc.
Thread: Help Needed: Looking for Vue Pro Studio 7 Installer | Forum: Vue
Sorry, afraid I don't have the installer for 7 as I only kept versions 9 and 10. But if this helps at all I've dug out my archived Vue 10 installer pack and the top folder contains the following: Folders: Archives, Documentation, Setup Files, RenderCow Setup Files, Install RenderCow.app, Install Vue 10.app
Files: AutoRun.inf, CDIntro.exe, RenderCow Setup.exe, Setup.exe
Maybe if you search for some keywords from the folder / file names you may be able to locate it that way. You could try "Install Vue 7" or "RenderCow" first as they are the most unique to Vue. My top folder is called "Install Vue 10", but I think I renamed it to that when I archived it.
Hope you find it.

Allo ( ho! thanks for your free Saumur castle it is nice in my Vue)) I have now Vue infinite 2016 (no limit time license) Maybe at this special price i will be tempted to subscribe to creator plus plans factory But do you think i can keep Vue infinite 2016 active and operationnel? and install Creator in a new folder ? Thanks Or finally no really incitive gain to have Creator and still using Vue infinite only
Hi martial,
I am glad that you like the castle! I like modelling, but it is even more enjoyable to know that other people can make use of the models and enjoy them too.
I have never used Vue Infinite, but I think that the 2016 version runs in Windows 10. If that is the case and you are running it in Windows 10 then you should have until 2025 before support for that version of Windows ceases. You should be able to run Vue Infinite 2016 and Vue Creator side by side in Windows 10. I run Vue 9 and Vue 10 (artist versions) together in Windows 7 with no problems. If you want to keep Vue Infinite 2016 beyond 2025, you would need a dual boot system, so that you could keep Infinite 2016 in Windows 10, and install Windows 11 for your other work, and for Creator, if you decide to buy it. Setting up a dual boot system is a fair bit of work, but it does allow you to run old favourites and new software as well. One thing that can limit the lifetime of old graphics software is your graphics card. As the card's software gets updated automatically, it will eventually get out of step with Infinite 2016, and you may have trouble with the display. I encountered that problem with Vue 10 on Windows 7, and there is not much you can do about it, unless you block the graphics card updates, but if you do that you may have trouble with newer graphics applications.
Your best bet might be to download a trial version of Vue Creator if there is one available, and see if it suits you. The interface is quite a bit different from the older Vue versions. If you like it and you're happy to pay the $99.50, then you should be able to keep it running on your system for at least the next 5 years. But don't forget that you now have to pay for the licence every year! Although you do get free updates and enhancements.
Thread: Badlands Landscape props product 68757 | Forum: Bryce
Hello mk320kunst
Is this Badlands Landscape props by the artist Poisen? If so the zip file should contain 13 files in .OBJ format. You will need to unzip the zip file and import the individual .obj files into Bryce 7.
Does that help? If not I can send some screen shots.
Judy
