BTW, wouldn't the "readScript"-command be helpful here? AFAIK, it reads a specified file at the place (inside the cr2) where the command stands. So you can have one object (a single chain part) and can read it whenever you have the inline object now. Willy PS: Search for "readScript" here in this forum. There are some links.

Yessss! That will do it, Guitta! I forgot to meniton the thing with the selection from the materials list. See, it's easy when you consider you can select materials, other groups or even pick facets by hand. Oh, by the way - there seems to be a trick in hand-picking facets: BEFORE you select the gropuing tool you should select a display style for the object. When you select WIRE-frame style (in the main pose room window) you can pick "through" the frame, i.e. you get the facet you actually pick AND the one on the backside! When you select "HIDDEN"-style you can only pick the facets on the front side! This difference isn't pointed out very much in the manual. That explains why there is so much fuzz about this darned group tool which just does what it wants - and not what I want! Ah, just select the correct display style... Willy

Hm, Geep was a little fast, I presume ;) First you have to make a NEW GROUP; just give it an appropriate name Second you have to assign some facets to this group (in your case: ADD MATERIAL, or so) Third press SPAWN PROPS. This will make a prop of this selected parts. I wish you success! Willy

Thread: An unusual mistake about the .OBJ file format!!! :-) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
BYS, since the stone age of IT an OBJ-file was always the output of a compiler. The term was there way before M$ (can anybody imagine a time like this ? ;-) But they just used it the same way everybody used it then. I don't know since when the OBJ-extension was used for mesh files. Can anybody fill me in on that, please? Willy

Oh, that would be a bargain! I shell out around 1650 Euro a month - for a 3 bedroom house that is. Maybe that's why I'm delving into this 3D thing. The house of my dreams will be less expensive ... and more flexible - and I can get all the furniture from the FS-area! "Paint the house!" not problem, really, hon! ;-) Thanks, Willy

maclean: In P4 (v4.2.1 .177) (that's PPP) putting the cursor over the two triangles and pulling expands and contracts the hier editors window totally smooth (i.e. not in any noticable increments). In P5 (v5.0.2 .268) (that's with SR2.1) the cursor can be placed on any spot of the border. On the horizontal border you can expand/contract vertically (up/down), on the vertical border you can expand/contract horizontally (left/right). On the lower right hand corner you can do the things in all directions. The cursor takes the forms which are common in Windows (double arrows, diagonal arrows etc.) So I think it is a Windows thing, i.e. the GUI behaves like the OS is set to do. I use WinXP home on a P4 1.8GHz with 1GB RAM and some 60GB HD. Willy
