Thread: Poser 4 PP VS. Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Free plug-ins you have to pay for???? Do you mean you can get the plug-ins for P5 which are better but they are not free or that you can get better plugins for PPP if you pay for them?

Just to add a bit to TrekkieGrrrl's excellent answer. When you create the morph, it's worth having two of the objects in the scene. Especially if it's for an animation. Use one as a reference that you don't change or move. The second one you morph and you can position it so that it morphs the way you want it to. For example, if you wanted to morph the elastic band for a character that was going to flick it, you'd want one end of the band (say the left side) to stay in a fixed position as it stretches. So once you've created the morph, position it so that the left side is in the same position so as you apply the morph it stretches to the right. Hope that makes sense!

Sounds like a bug in Quicktime. Short term fix- add a blank soundtrack of the correct length to the beginning of the sound file. Long term- Report the problem to Apple and send them an example.
Thread: Does Poser 5 slow down when you are connected to the internet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOL- Like that www.. gag. Say you are not doing anything over the connection, you just have a connection open when you are using Poser5. Just wondered if anyone noticed a reduction in speed. Could Poser 5 be doing something like looking for other users with the same licence code, for example, which knocks performance.
Thread: Poser 5 Refraction Material Setting- How do you use it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the help, I'm trying to get a magnifying glass effect through a glass object but whatever I try, I'm getting a white fuzz. I'll try and have another go sometime this weekend.

An alternative method is to render the mirrored scene as a jpg/gif file and use the image as a texture on one-sided square. Most image editors contain a mirror function. If you need to animate the image, then you can create lots of one-sided squares, each with a frame of the mirrored action. place the appropriate frame of the mirrored scene in a visible position and hide the other frames behind it. The only problem with this method is it seems to hit a limit at about 370 images (on my machine), so you have to chunk your animations at this limit instead of the usual 999 limit.
Thread: I am afraid of Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
But JohnRender, by your own statistics, less than 30% are unhappy with Poser 5 and two-thirds of the people who bought Poser 5 are happy with it. What I think is sad is that those who have purchased Poser 5, assuming they have purchased legal copies, and can't get it to work, don't seem get their money back or get any decent support from Curious Labs. Unless, of course, anyone here knows different....

A ten minute animation is 1,080,000 frames (I think- 10 X 60min X 60secs X 30 frames). To get a ten minute animation out weekly is a big project.
Thread: Light Sets... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know, but I can't see why this wouldn't work.... 1. Load light set 1. 2. Rename the lights. 3. Load light set 2. You may need to save the file and reload it after step 2 as Poser may still think of the lights as Light1, Light2 and Light3 until it's been reloaded.

There is two ways to do it yourself in Poser (that I know of). Method 1 is to colour in your texture and see where the colours are. For example, say I fill in the template with a spectrum of colours starting with red on the right through to blue on the left. Render the template and see where the colors go. From the render you should be able to figure out what area is where, although you may need to do another test with the spectrum going from top to bottom. Method 2 is to use the grouping tool. Mark the rectangular area (facet) you want in red, check you haven't selected anything else. Create your group and assign a material to the group. You can now select that material and apply a texture to it which doesn't have to cover the other areas.
