Well in a perfect world you are right Money is Money and buying a Windoze Machine From Hell would be what some might consider a viable solution. But I am not "someone"....I am a Mac User! and I have been in hell for the past year or so and don't want to make my existence more difficult or worse than necessary by getting another Windoze machine (already got s cheap laptop used and though I have had it for two years still can not get it to connect to my internal network...sucks!) . LOLOLOL
No, but honestly I have worked on both and prefer the Mac. If I could afford to spend $500 on a crumby Windows machine I can invest roughly the same amount and get the MacMini and use the peripherals I already have instead. If I was working I would have gotten the new one and left the G4 iMac alone to keep on working with what it has until it died. But I have been outa work since last February 10 and still no hope in sight. Two years ago my apartment got flooded and it took until just this last August to get it fixed. I was still on unemployment then but it finally got done...thank God, by the dictatorial condo management firm and their insurance(a story I really don't need to get worked up about again!).
I have a double ruptured disk and a torn ligament or something in my left shoulder ( I am told, needs surgery) which in combination with my bad back make finding alternative work even in (Perish the thought) retail, almost impossible.
All i want to do aside from finding a decent job is do my artwork...as best I can to keep the pain of reality at bay. Thank God for Poser and the internet!
Now all I need to do is find someone with decent hands and some string. Any partied]s interested PM me! LOL

Quote - BTW, how old IS your system that you can't even run Girl on it? She's from what, 2004? Your system would have to be a few years older then that to not be able to use her.. so we're talking what? 2000? 2002?
Sounds like it's time to save pennies for an upgrade.. LOL!
EEEEEEEEEK...I must love to suffer and kvetch too!!!!
:) Yeah man.
It is an old PowerMac 8600 300Mhz with a 604 processor and a gig of ram.
The problem is the hard drive I am running Poser on is an old 18Gb with only about 400megs available and though I have other drives in the box, I also have a bad motherboard that for some reason refuses to Reboot. I could install GIRL and some other stuff but that would reduce the size of the drive space interfering the way Poser renders. The bad motherboard not only make updating drives difficult it also disallows me to burn CDs. I have two really good CD burners that when I did my final upgrade to OS 8.6 (that would run on this darn thing) just stopped working which has made it difficult transferring stuff off the system for archiving. All attempts to find out the reason why have failed. I just quit trying, detached the burners and moved on. Though I have been transferring renders to one of the other drives in the box, if the processor or Motherboard die I will have no way of getting all my important stuff off the drives because they are all SCSI interface!
I am going through the motions of upgrading a G4 iMac but the work of upgrading the OS to Tiger means making a huge amount of changes in other things and I am not too good with change so it takes me forever to implement it.

You are right. I do tend to complicate sheit in the attempt to simplify. :(
I have the old Zygote female hands but there is no darn texture for them. I have tried creating my own but just can't figure out how to UV map them and being on a Mac UV Mapper is not a very good help for me there. But I will try the photo solution just need to figure out whose hands to shoot!
Thanks.

Good idea dude.
But there are a few problems. Though I have the Girl can't use her on my older system..yet.
Posing the shot for someone else to shoot is something that has never worked for me. I don't know how proficient a photographer you are but no one can really control a shot well enough to give you exactly what you need except you even something as simple and seemingly insignificant as this project will go unusable.
Setting up the shot would mean lighting, background and model. Not something I can do or even want to do in my current situation.
I guess the alternative is Pen and ink....if I still remember how to draw! (
Thread: Centaur...Looking for one | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah I know. I have been one of those asking, begging, praying for, threatening and trying to rig for my own needs. I got the ZYGOTE Centaur and loved it and used it a LOT all these years (see Pic) but I need for it to give me more. Either someone creates some good character morphs for it (fat Centaur, Young Centaur, Muscular Centaur) and many more face MTs. than it has as well as a female version (single mesh please) at the very least as good as it is out of the box or come out with a new version comparative in quality to any of the MilCharacters out there.

YeahI have the SIXUS Centaur but as I have always stated his creatures, though nice as they might be have their place but rendered next to a beautifully made MilFigure(even the old Posette and Dork) just do not seem like they were created by the same had of GOD. They lack a certain real world credibility for some reason. Whereas the Zygote Centaur looks closer in style to the human figures mentioned. Check out the DAZ forum for some views of centaurs in the works there. using the P4 Horse and a customized Posette and Mike2. Really Nice!

Hey ARCADIA and IKENDALL I didn't even think of including a render. Thanks for the thoughtfulness.!

Yeah I am one of those loud guys that has been begging for a better Centaur and pretty much criticizing the current offerings...until I saw this. THis is what I picture my imaginary centaurs to look like. There is credible and "REAL" balance in the character and how the animal and human parts work together. I agree DAZ really needs to see this and figure out a way to weld the Mil Horse and David (not Mike3...please) to give us all something that looks like this good as one mesh!
Some time ago someone at DAZ tried putting one together using the MilHorse and Mike 3 and I didn't like it at all. There was a very definate balance problem between the man's body and the horse. Too stretched and off balance. Similar with the composited one in the store even with the skirt it looks off.
I loved the old DAZ Centaur and use it a lot because ther is that good balance in the construct. I would even be happy if DAZ would just tweak that figure by offering some more realistic morphs for the stupid DORK face and body stype morphs and better texturing. I would love to see a short fat centaur or an old wizend one or a skinny old female one with a sway-back horse body and saggy boobs or a buffed out male like the Freak but a bit more credible. Or as you have here morphs for young ones. These options could be add-on packages I would buy no matter the price.
Of all the options I have seen out here these versions/characters come closest to the balace of the old DAZ Centaur which, despite being short in realism and greatly lacking in versatility, has been pretty much the marker by which I have come to judge the other offerings and closest to how I imagine a Centaur to look like if they were to exist (See Chronicles of Narnia).
The bummer for me right now is though I have Poser7 I can't run it yet on my older system! :(
So come on DAZ get this together.
Thread: Getting Testures Concerted | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah..I thought of that and amy tring it. The textures I am refering to I purchased at DAz so I just dropped their Customer Service an email asking the same thing. I wish the texture converter was also available for the Mac...it would have made all this so much easier! :(

Does that method save all the UV mapping for the shoes too? Example I have Antons old and beautiful Jewels Set from DAZ for Vicki2 and being conforming I couldn't use them for MilPT. But the textures are great for the items. If I convert those conforming shoes to .obj will I still be able to use the original textures? Same issue applies to the beautifully cool Elf set for LaRoo at DNA. Those fairy slippers are gorgeous but the conform to LaRoo only. Would love to have them for other MilCharacters.
Is there an "EASY" tutorial how to do this somewhere?
Thread: looking for slippers | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for these leads. But the thing is I am still working with MilVicki2 and the original MilPTs with V2 Morphs. So if I get anything conforming or dynamic I won't be able to use it. I have asked if there is a way to convert conforming shoes to regular props especially those that are low and do not need to conform to the upper legs but would work fine just fitted to the foot or toes but have not found any easy ones to follow.
Some conforming shoes that come in seperate left and right elements have smart propped but may many more come in conforming as a set and I don't know how to break those up. I have many of such shoes both purchased and freebies and for the most part cannot use them.
