Superboomturbo your pirate looks great! I love the eyes, just the right amount of creepy. I kinda get the feeling he's not a "good" pirate. What sort of books do you write?

Here is a render of a Wonderous Wares vase. I set the gain at 2. I also found out I had to use an HDRI in the place of the skydome that the vases came with. I used an IBL that came with Reality.
Two things: What if I didn't want a picture of a swimming pool or anything else like that in my scene?
The vase is still black.
Good thing it's not real or I might break it. Not really, but I am frustrated. Mostly at my ignorance. Any suggestions?

"Bob.. that's my wife's render.." She's doing really well! Now, be a sweetie and let her go shopping and buy something pretty for her favorite model. Shopping is part of the fun! She's braver than I am.. I'm still to uncertain about what I do to post. I've been thinking about doing a ballerina too. She has excellent taste ;) I'm anxious to see more of her renders.

I'm still staring at the files. What is a Ref file? Each object as a Diff and a Ref file.

Is it acceptable to post a small bit of the texture so that it's possible to see how dark it is? Even when I lighten it, a portion of it lightens and the rest stays black. I don't know enough about maps yet to know what I'm seeing.

Thank you for the Zombie Eye Fix. It was the specular setting, plus the texture itself seemed to only half load, so I redid that and he once again has eyes ;) Thanks again!
I still haven't gotten the glass wares to work, changing the gain gave me part of a texture with weird blackness. I did lighten the texture but only part of it responded. I'm trying to figure out how to lighten the whole texture. There must be a way, it's probably operator error.

Your results were amazing
I agree! I'd love to be able to make something like that. First I have to figure out that diagram and flipping normals. Your render was perfect!
So, it prodded me to redo a render of mine that I wasn't quite happy with. I've rendered it several times before this. I made a slight change in how much the eyes were open. Called Reality. Hit the render button and about jumped outta my seat!
Totally creeped me out. His eyes are white. No pupil, no iris, no anything, just zombie white! What would cause this? I really really don't like it!

I hope this is the information you requested. One's a jpg of the Daz quick render. The other is the materials panel in Reality for the same file.

Have any of you tried using Wonderous Wares, the new glass product for sale at Daz?
The glass objects have a transmission map. They're glass material. All I get when I try to render the scene with reality is some black objects shaped like the glass object with a hint of the color/texture of the glass object along a sliver of the edge. Is there any way to get more than a solid black object from the vases?

Quote - I needed a Madonna for an upcoming paid commission project so i face genned myself one this is a Reality quick render less then 3 minutes..
Your Madonna looks great, very nice job. I recognized her right away. What is a face gen? Whatever it is you did a very nice one. Is it hard to do?
You also mentioned a commission project. If I get good enough at this rendering thing, and that's questionable, how or where does one get a commission? It must be great getting paid for something you love to do.

Whoah.....I think I have some misconceptions. I thought that all the renders were done from the camera view, the default. But you stated that.... if you decide to render from the camera view..... Also...I took particular note of the fact that.... when you go to Render feature the default perspective view setting will usually reactivate....and you have to reset to camera view again. We can render from the perspective view?
This might be the cause of the problem I'm having off and on with the render not being the camera view. Crikies. I'm going to go look for those options right now.
And thank you for the information!

Quote - Now that I posted my first image, this is my last one. I made the crystal forest with blender. I took me a while to find correct parameters for the crystal, and this is absolutely not what I wanted to ended up with. But this is enough, maybe I'll try with other parameters some day. You can see higher rez (1800x1800) at the link http://rankerx.deviantart.com/art/Godess-of-Crystals-307906705
I liked this image alot. The crystals are really nice, I would love to be able to make something this good. There's a very nice feeling to this piece, what were you unhappy with?

Thank you Paolo for confirming the stop and start rendering in Lux. I had read Reality's user guide but I thought I had misunderstood it. It seemed to good to be true.

Callad, thats a great render! Love the lighting. How did you get her shoes to fit so well? They fit better than my own shoes do. Beautiful lighting on the stockings too.
BobVan, your clothing disaster made me laugh. Well done!
A rendering question. What if someone happened to stop their render too soon because they were too impatient...and then realized after calming down that the image really did need more time, maybe quite a bit more. It could happen right? Well.. umm... If that were to happen to someone, is there any way to render the scene continuing at the point that it was so wrongly stopped? This would be very good to know considering that someone might do that, someday..maybe.
