Quote - Just curious....
This is a thread about a character that someone is going to give to the community.
And there are people saying, this and that, etc.
It is ironic how when a character comes out, people say this should be done this way, that should be done that way.... I dont like this, I dont like that....
Someone is giving something to the community. A thread was started about it and it is turning into a discussion that has absolutley nothing to do with the said character. With as many people that appear to know what the perfect character should have, we still don't have one do we? Ironic isn't it....
If anyone knows what the perfect character should look like, be rigged like, and wired like. By all means take the time to make it, and then give it to the community.
Then all the threads about it can run amuck with all sorts of stuff that has absolutley nothing to do with it. Think about that for a bit...
Food for thought.................
This attitude has always driven me nuts. If a creator doesn't want feedback, they can either post in the gallery and turn off comments, or simply just post the figure somewhere when it's done. If it is posted in the forums than it is assumed you are wanting feedback. Well IMO this thread has offered a lot of valuable feedback about what people want in models, and what people see in this one.
I personally used Peters references for my morphs. I also used my 30+ years experience as a female lol. That mirror scene from Fried Green Tomatoes comes to mind lmao. j/k I did really get sick of seeing that particular body part though, and I fancy myself a big fan of the female form. Too much is too much.

Quote - Luckily, Bill lets us redistribute anything he's posted publicly. (To do it the long way, you need to search up the linen script, which I think is at RDNA, put it in the right folder, then run matmatic, and it will generate the mt5 exactly as I'm giving it to you.)
(rename to just .mt5, acourse)
My understanding of this is that it IS permissable to redistribute this linen material with a free item? Is that correct? Does anyone have a link to a license for that which can be included with the file?
p.s. I DID finally get this to work. Though I still have no comprehension of how Matmatic creates anything. The only button I have is compile and I don't even know what it is compiling lol. I have no idea how to "generate materials and thumbnails with it". However that is on my short list of things to figure out once I finish up this project.
The linen material looks really good for my needs. I did still get some of that morai pattern. Although in each instance it was in the sides of the field of vision which made me think of BBs thread on making nylons. I'm not sure if that is a factor or if that is just how it appeared.
Seriously thanks for all the participation and assistance in this thread. I'd have given up on 3d years ago if it were not for these forums.

Does 'lipstick on a pig' come to anyones mind when we are talking about great textures on craptastic models?

I don't do porn. I mean I'm not ruling it out but I haven't done any yet. Yet I was dissatisfied with V4s and created the Vmorph for her. The age on the barbie box is like 10+ , so I assumed, I guess, that once I hit a certain age my barbie should be fully featured.
When doing it I know I thought I would be happier if she had more polys in that area to work with, because she is kinda sparse in that area - but I was able to get most of the correct features in there, though truthfully I often look back and think even now * I could do better.
It did require many hours of staring at detailed reference images - that gave me nightmares after a while. Some might be a little shy of that endeavor. /chills
My point is, I don't know how many polys you are working with in that area or what the shape of them is. V4 started with a decent shape. But you don't need that many to look more realistic than what is there now.

I see quite a lot of these deformed genitals on new figures. I don't know if it is men modeling them or what but they are terrible. I worked on a character with a man before and he wanted to give her the same type of messed up girl parts. Do people actually study what this part looks like before they go modeling it?
I don't mean to be mean. The figure seems fine otherwise, but it's hard for me to get past that. People are calling it anatomically correct just because SOMETHING is there. It doesn't look correct at all to me.

"I must have had a poor education as I only ever used sine.cosine and tangent to figure out whether the imaginary tree would fall on our house, how on earth it relates to colours and lights and materials I have no idea, but it would be nice to have some vague idea.
I can see where Khai is coming from, in one respect, i think and these aren't his words but mine.....Why do i need a degree in math to add a wood material to a particular model if i dont want to use a texture, or if i do want to use a texture why do i need a degree in math to make it look "professional".
Why did it have to become so complicated that we all feel like idiots becuase we aren't Stephen Hawkins IQ levels."
LMAO! I sooo feel you on this. NORMALLY - I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person. I read books on physics, (though I can't do the math myself personally, I can at least comprehend). I know who Garrett Lisi is. When Boson Higgs was recently discovered I actually knew how important that was.
But that all goes to the wayside the moment I open these forums. They have the magical ability to make me feel like a complete bumbling idiot in five minutes or less - usually.
As much as I appreciate BagginsBill, usually when he explains something I feel like he's trying to teach me to walk when I barely know how to hold up my head.
I decided recently that I wanted to understand what the math functions were in the materials room. Though I knew I would never understand how to apply them. I still wanted to at least know what the heck they stood for.
My childhood was complicated and through not much of my own choices I didn't make it past pre - algebra. But I stayed in Honors English so I'll hang my hat on that. Still my 15 year old son is a little bit of a math guru himself - going into Honors Algebra 2 in 9th grade. So I brought him in to see if he knew what those math funtions were. He rattled them all off the top of his head (mid summer mind you) and proceeded to create diagrams for me so that I could understand what cosign was.
If BB hadn't already made me feel like an imbecile, my 15 year old accomplished it in about 15 minutes. Through no fault of their own, of course.
I guess the point in this post is really that I relate #1 and then that there is some disconnect between those who comprehend and those that don't and I do imagine that there is a fair amount of people who just simply get tired of feeling stupid. I'm persistant and don't really care too much about what others think - so I guess I'm lucky in that way.

Oh good god. I don't know how to write scripts. Back to drawing board. And all I wanted was that Linen material she showed lol.

O M G. Obviously every single step of this process is going to be a nightmare. I did get Matmatic. I did install and verify that everything went into the right folders. Navigated to compile.py and ran it. Have the button. Push it. Some things happen. I have demo materials in the materials runtime. That's it. That's all that I can get to happen.
I'm obviously missing something, because I'm sure Matmatic does more to help with materials than add a few demo materials to my runtimes.
Read through all the documentation. I don't see what I am missing.
Is Matmatic suppose to be just for writing scripts? I'm getting a headache.

Ha! I don't have to invest - it's free. I always thought that was a sale item. Now just have to figure out if I can redistribute a material I create with it.

Hana, Vilters - wow. Thank you very much for your efforts on it. However from the end result I think it's decided that I need to invest in matmatic. : / That looks like exactly what I need.
