not sure what you mean? the upper left spheres are 100% reflections of the empty horizon behind the camera. the sphere in the middle right with what look like wires in it was made outside bryce. I made a mess of splines that resembed a tumble weed, gave them a thickness and placed them inside the glass sphere once in bryce. Some look different then others as i hollowed out some eggs and spheres then addes glass to whole inside. Others only are glass where you see it like a slice so they refract the main object material which is not far below the surface. I couldnt find the water texture but im sure its there (got about 270megs of mat files from the net in total - obsessive compulsive downloading so it could have come from a non water plane directory).

Ive read a tutorial some time ago where you make your material 'additive', in that tutorial it blends with the sky but only seems good on certain scenes. You might want to give that a try.
Thread: My opinion on Bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
I get the occasional lockup as well but not after a fresh start. Usually, if ive been rendering all night and next day pause the program to do something; when it comes time to start it again it appears to render at 10% usage thereafter or lockup. Only way ive found around it was to save after the evening, then restart bryce from stratch when its time to continue the picture. Given im playing with the diamond tutorial in a 1600x1200 pic it appears to want a few days to render at a quality of 'super' with maximum ray depth 30 and tir of 28. Take into account the raw file is 94 megs and uses 240megs total in win2k. It does seem though if i leave bryce 5 running not doing anything for a day or 2 just playing around, the whole system gets laggy. Ive never seen this before in win2k but it happens all the time in 98 or me.
Thread: Material Preview question. How do i change the default shpe the materials show? | Forum: Bryce
For anyone that has this question in the future, finally found the keystroke command for resetting your preset picture: have the shape you want it picked, click on texture in the windows on the right. Let it render then click cntl-shift at the same time. Your Preview now changed. Shame ive done about 1000 textures the hard way before finding this. It wont help you though if you moving to category folders, that still manual.

yes appears so, started last night exporting mats of about 8 or 12 then bringing them back in at bottom, followed by adding them individually. Probly got half of my 1500 or so collection done last night. Id swear my dreams were based in a preset window last night.

Actually its the preset windows to the left in the 6x5 matrix that im trying to change. A few as you import them are invisible but whatever you pick in upper left is the shape they become pernamently. What i want to know is how to change the ones in the matrix after the fact. tks though.

Yes by all means upload. My user presets is only at 70 megs and 2-3x the standard ones from downloads.... Id gladly add more though,,, never can be enough.
Thread: Preset files too big? | Forum: Bryce
Ive imported dxf files into bryce that were in the 15meg range. Those would take easily 30 mins or more even on my old p2-400. So id assume a 45 meg file would take forever. My question is how much ram do you have. I had one scene where the bryce file was at about 212megs ram with lotsa imports. The 256megs of ram in that system would just handle it with a fresh boot. Soon as i used anything else the harddrive would being going nuts and render or doing modifications slowed to a crawl. If your importing a 197meg file not including your actually pic and os overhead and you dont have more then 256megs ram i could see a problem.
