Thread: I am afraid of Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried running P4 the other day and realised how much I like P5. I personally find more bugs in Poser 4 than Poser 5 where the two overlap in functionality. If you are running Windows ME or 95, then I wouldn't recommend it. You need at least the minmum spec machine and Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You may want to wait for DAZ's new rival software, but when (if?) that arrives it won't match Poser 5 for functionality for quite a while. In my opinion, the real plusses of P5 is the material editor and the firefly renderer. I can't use displacement maps enough, they so beat bump maps!. I have tried using the face room but I couldn't get anything decent out of it, but it may be I need to spend more time on it and I haven't touched the cloth room yet. The hair looks great but it's not exportable to other 3D apps.

Clutching at straws! I'll say, I can't see where you make the connection. I think you are going to have to approach this logically. Go through your steps saving each step as you go as a different file, for example.... Step1 Loaded V3.pz3 Step2 Added head morphs.pz3 Step3 Added body morphs.pz3 etc. Then try reloading each file to find when the problem occurs. When you get to the step that causes the problem, go back to step 1 and apply the action that caused the problem. Close the file (and poser to be sure) and then reload the file. If it fails, and hopefully it will, you've isolated the problem and can then attempt to solve it. If it succeeds then you are either facing a resource problem or the problem is caused by a combination of steps- you'll then have to figure out which of the other steps in conjunction with the one you've identified causes the problem.

Eeeek! I wouldn't install sr2.1 over sr3. You'd be better off uninstalling poser 5, reboot, install poser 5, install all the patches in sequence and then run poser 5. SR3 certainly fixes things, especially AVI texturing.

I've no idea but I just wanted to say that you should've called this post 'figure it out' :0)
Thread: WIP Feedback needed. Something doesn't seem quite right. - Part 2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'd be so pleased if I got something that looked this good. Terrific picture and a great improvement on the average picture you posted before. The different camera angle has removed the shadow problem because it's not obvious where the sun is now, but more cthan that, it's made the picture so much more dramatic.
Thread: Questions abou the walk designer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Or.... - make a copy of the scene (pz3 file). - Apply the walk you want. - Save the walk as a pose including all the frames you want but, this is the important bit, selecting only the parts you want animated. - Open original file, select character and apply the pose.

For those of us that have joined this movie halfway though, could someone explain why this proves 'CL lied' about Poser 5's problems.
Thread: Conforming 'partial' clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Conforming does not replace the body part, it moves the figure to the same position and keeps it relative to the same part of the figure, in your example the chest. So as you move the chest, the conformed figure moves with it. To make that clearer, lets take the poser 4 skeleton and the poser 4 male figure (which we'll call Dork) which I think has the the same set-up as the skeleton. If we conform Dork to the skeleton, then Poser will move Dork to the same pose and position as the skeleton. Note that they are both in the scene and have all their parts. If we move or pose the skeleton, then the Dork will have the same changes applied to it. Clothing is just like the Dork in this example, except the clothing normally only has a subset of the figures parts. So in your example, it's only the chest part. If, when you make your clothing item and conform it to the original figure, part of the original figure shows through, the you either have to... - Make the body part of the figure invisible (not always an acceptable solution). - change your item so the body part doesn't show through. - Apply a transparency map to the figure. - Morph the original figure - Do something I haven't thought of or forgotten. Hope that helps!

Thanks. Are you the same Who3d who are working on creating episode 4 of the 10th planet? If so, how's it going?

I've tried several times today using different connections, but I can't get that link to work!
Thread: Is there a really good tutorial about animating with poser 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The simplest way I can think of to make part of an animation go backwards would be to use the Animation Palette to move the key frames of the character into the reverse order on the timeline. (Is it me or does that sound like a line from a bad Star Trek episode?)

As a thought, Silver has obviously installed poser 5 and then applied the SR3 patch without installing the SR2 patch. Could it be that the SR3 patch is missing a fix in the SR2 patch? Is anyone having major problems who installed SR2 & SR3?
