I am using Poser Pro. It eventually game me a message that I should try to render in a separate process, which I have figured out how to do. I was just getting excited that the problem had been solved, when the dreaded out of memory message emerged again. Thank you for the suggestion to minimise. I didn't realise that released memory, I'll certainly try it.

Oy. I took another look. It seems that somewhere along the way I broke the skeleton. I think I had better try again with the setup room. pjz99 you pointed me in the right direction. The problem was with the bones after all. Thank you.
Nobody said this was going to be easy...

The names match the bones and they are not reversed, I just checked. I let Poser autogroup first and then worked from there, I did not change any group or bone names. I thought perhaps I had some stray faces double grouped or in the wrong group, but the group editor shows no problems.

I really appreciate the assistance. PhilC, I would not even have been in a position to ask questions here if it had not been for your tutorial on making clothing. I followed all the steps in your instructions. I still get the same result:

Unfortunately that does not work. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with my mesh, but I have no idea what to look for. The mesh has no folds and doesn't touch itself anywhere. I fixed two little holes but that did not solve the problem either. I am at a loss - I may have to start over....

Try getting Copernic Desktop Search, free for personal use from www.copernic.com. If your file has a reasonably recognisable name, it will help you search your media very fast and efficiently. You could also invest in an external hard drive to keep your content files easily searchable.

Thread: Poser Face room textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am getting good results modifying the face shape of G2 characters in the Face Room, provided I stick with the original textures, or textures from characters that I have bought. It baffles me that the texture modification function even exists in the Face Room, because it seems a total waste of energy.
I tried creating new characters from photos, but that is beyond my skill level at the moment, and even if I get an acceptable result, there is still the problem of matching the body texture to the face. So for now, I seem to be limited to the G2 figures and the available characters for them

Thread: Getting Sydney to walk in high heels | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow thank you! Clearly I have lots and lots to learn. I'll start with Les Bentley's script. I hope I'll get it right yet.
I do hope the developers of the program take into account that Walk Designer needs to accommodate shoes with high heels.

Thread: Bringing MakeHuman Figures into Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Update: Poser Pro's Collada import is not any more useful than importing the Obj file in this case. Quoted from the Poser Pro's reference manual:
COLLADA import in Poser Pro does not currently support Cg shaders, morph targets, bones or animation.
That is a real pity. I hope they improve this sometime.

Thank you for these most helpful responses. Permission for redistribution is all I need, and thankfully I shall not be needing anatomically correct armpits! I just got Poser. Clearly I have a lot to learn.

Thread: Bald spots with dynamic hair - New to Poser, please help. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you drapak12. If hair growth dependent on the number of polygons, that answers my question. The supplied documentation is not entirely clear on that. If I use a skullcap with the original polygon density I get plenty of hair, evenly distributed. There must be something wrong with my modified skullcap mesh, I'll work on that.
